Couple of 2019 Amici pinot noir bottles to pair with some Thai food. A wee bit young, so letting them open for a while before dinner.

Re: What Wine is in Your Glass Tonight

Well saturday evening i was in for a Castello Fonterutelli reserva 2011 , and i didn't like the wine it was mostly prunes , iodine , and that was about that...i think it was disappointing to me so had another bottle i opened which was Vasse Felix Tom Cullity Carbernet Sauvignon and Malbec 2014....hmm that was also disappointing to me as it was rather singular , lots of blackberry and a note that resembles eucalyptus , not bad but for the money i would have expected it to deliver much more nuances.

I like their cabs too. Their Pinots are heavier and richer than some others we like. Normally we go with Hanzell or a light burgundy with 'spicy' food or sushi.

If you like Amici cabs, check out Hawkes. Very good and seemingly impossible to find short of ordering from the winery.

I have 2 Italian prune trees. The most amazing plums to eat. This year they set off about 400 pieces of fruit each. I gorged for a while. I made a batch of plum jam. I also take the plum and pit and put them in a large glass jug with some fresh cinnamon stick and zest of orange, along with a 2 liter jug of 151 Everclear. I usually let it sit till about Thanksgiving. This year I cracked some early. Its quite good even when young. As it get older, it transfers a lot more sugar into the mix. It makes a really nice drink with a little fresh squeezed grapefruit juice, CO2 infused water and ice.

Had this last night. 8% Viognier grapes used in the blend. Quite good. Opened up very nicely after 90 minutes of decanting
