Re: Daylight Savings Time Ends Tonight

I did a lot of the old clocks on Friday. Why?
On Halloween the rain had ended, the temperature was dropping like a rock and the wind was gusting to 62 MPH!
So while the kids were Trick or Treating the power went out. The kids stopped coming when twilight ended.
Had to reset a lot of clocks and old light controllers, so I just set them back an hour in the process.

As a side note. I think the Daylight Saving Time should start a couple of weeks later in the Spring and end a couple of weeks earlier in the Fall. All the Summer evening activities have ended by then.

Re: Daylight Savings Time Ends Tonight

They really need to just split it down the 30 minute spot and leave it alone instead of changing twice a year. It had it's purpose when created, but like a lot of things now, it is not needed.

Yeah, this thing of changing our clocks twice a year is time wasting.
What we should change instead is the temperature (climate).

Check this out; twice a year the poor guys are hanging by a thread ...

Me I think next year (2020) it's time to stop changing the time twice a year...down to zero.
It's a prehistoric tradition and some countries have evolved; they banished that non-sense custom.

Re: Daylight Savings Time Ends Tonight

Seven states – Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Nevada, Oregon, Tennessee and Washington – have approved legislation to make daylight saving time permanent. These states still need the OK from the federal government to enact the change, however. Arizona (except the Navajo Nation),Hawaii and the U.S. territories of American Samoa, Guam, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands do not observe Daylight Savings Time.

Re: Daylight Savings Time Ends Tonight

Daylight Saving Time is total BS these days. Daylight Saving Time (DST) is a system to reduce electricity usage by extending daylight hours. Over population in the world equals more work shifts in factories and in small towns which impacts the original thinking.

It can be confusing if you live in Ohio and work in Indiana. You can get to work an hour before you left home if close enough.

I agree. For those of us who prefer to live further from the equator daylight time matters more than it does for those who like warmer climates.

This time change affair (TCA or DST) is all bacon sausage baloney. It splits provinces and states.

Of course we want to be in sync with our neighbors...Washington, California, Oregon, Nevada, ...

+1!!! It takes my entire physiology a few months just to adjust. It's a PIA. Just change it to DST year round and leave it there.

Re: Daylight Savings Time Ends Tonight

Another thing that you think would be a No Brainer, is that we all don't change the time Globally on the same day.

I work for a Global company with worldwide customers. My boss is in England, I manage a team in the Ukraine, and have meetings in many countries and time zones.

For several weeks we have to adjust calendars and overlapping time. Outlook helps, but it is difficult to remember which countries changed or not yet.

How many Rocket Scientists would it take for a few dozen countries to agree on a single day?

My wife's grandfather, a staunch Republican, referred to daylight savings time as Democrat time and to standard time as God's time.
