Does it equal the Diablo 300 in sound? That seems to be the real sweet price point for Integrateds of that caliber.

Re: MBL goes into the big system. Could this mean a change?
I own the before gen the c51, and compared to gryphon extensively, and i agree 100% with you mike.
I have an inquiry though: what if you have to compare mids on both ?
I know the n51 is a different beast, but i suppose they have the same genes.

Removed the horns. They were causing a reflection off the MBL’s. Improved things by quite a bit.My Systems: http://www.audioshark.org/showthread...481#post158481

Re: MBL goes into the big system. Could this mean a change?
most systems will work in smaller rooms if set up properly. That just seems to be the key. I know someone who uses some large ML's in a smaller bedroom. They take up the whole room, but sound great

Re: MBL goes into the big system. Could this mean a change?
Agreed. If they work in my crappy room, they will work in any room. I’m always surprised at how versatile the MBL’s are (when I assume they wouldn’t be). They do need side walls and a back wall (wall behind the speaker) though to work their best. They need at least 32 inches from the middle of the speaker to the side wall and at least 32 inches from the back wall. Back wall and side wall distances should be different (3 feet and 4 feet for example). Since they rely on reflection, absorption is also not recommended. Diffusion is ok. Silk plants work best.

Re: MBL goes into the big system. Could this mean a change?
How do MBL 120s compare to AG Duos or Mezzos, or to Magico M3s for that matter?
Do the sound big or small, or equal? What’s your impression?

@ Mike, I may have missed this but what prompted you to explore this potential change?
Would the 101s have been too much for that room?

Re: MBL goes into the big system. Could this mean a change?
Completely different. The AG’s are a big impressive dynamic “live sound” presentation that I could live happily ever after with. The M2/M3’s out planar the planars in their seamless presentation and pin point Imaging. The MBL’s cast a massive soundstage wall to wall front to back. Their lack of a cabinet also presents vocals and piano and the like in such a natural form without colorations or resonances. The sound is focused but not quite as focused as a Magico or AG. But one thing I find puzzling is why I’m getting a much more focused center image in my home than in the store. My thinking is that the back wall Vicoustics diffusion in the store is causing the slightly less than focused image.
