Subaru fans?
Last week I traded in a 12 year old Lincoln Town car for a 2019 Subaru Forester.
I bought the premium version which is second from the bottom.
It’s the standard configuration without extra options.
Absolutely love the car.

Re: Subaru fans?
The Tesla is A LOT more money. My mother is going on 87 and she can get in and out of the Forester much easier. I still have my VW Golf R for more spirited driving sessions (for now). The Forester is much more practical right now and the Golf might be sold/traded in for the Tesla. I wanted something with great winter and rain performance. The Forester checked all the boxes for now. I’ll keep my eyes out for a future Tesla.

Re: Subaru fans?
Congrats. Have been driving Outbacks for the past 15 years. Spirited driving....no. However, comfortable, pretty smooth on bad roads, great AWD, and lots of space for hauling gear. The 3.6L 6 cylinder has plenty enough power for me and a lot more than my previous 2.5L 4 cylinder. The 3.6R is a pig on gas in winter city driving, but so goes.

Re: Subaru fans?
I was going to buy a 2019 Subaru Forester. After a test drive, I was going to get the premium version like Joe got.
Was finalizing the sale, and I told the saleswomen that I wanted body side molding ($250.) included in the deal (sticker price,no other discounts).
After talking to her manager, I was told there wasn't enough mark-up to include the body side molding.
I said fine, I'll just go buy a RAV4.
I''m very happy with my XLE.

URaBus!
Joe, is the new model as lifeless / gutless as their Crosstrek? Both my sister and my sister-in-law own Crosstrek's and both complain about the lack of power.
Had a friend that owned one of the Forrester turbo models from years past and I recall that being pretty zippy and responsive. Not sure if they have a turbo model in the current Forrester line now or not?Avanti Audio

Re: Subaru fans?
Ha!
The 2019’s are on a new global platform. Look, it’s no rocket but feels like it wants to jump off the line. I have not pushed it yet but it feels adequate. Sure, 50 more horsepower would be great but I know what I’m getting into with the vehicle. Reviewers state how much more quiet, stiff and better the new models feel compared to the older ones.
My VW DSG gearbox in this car would be incredible. Oh well.

Re: Subaru fans?
Congrats, glad you like it.
I owned an Outback Wagon for several years. It was the best car in the snow I ever had, but it also was a Lemon from the day I drove it off the lot and it took a Lemon Law suit to resolve it and lots of my time. I had to nearly kill a company rep in traffic to make them believe what was wrong with the vehicle. It happened to be a known issue and recall on models and years prior to mine, but I had it anyway. Take your hands off the steering wheel and give it some gas, the car made a right hand turn.
Last October when I was in the market for a new SUV to replace my 07 Rav4, I did decide to at least give them another chance. We drove the Forester, top trim model, and it felt like a Go Cart to me. The upgraded stereo was the best part of the whole car.
Every model Subaru sells lacked a main feature we needed, full power front passenger seat, right on up the the new big Ascent. Seems most MFGs are more concerned with the kids in the back then they are about the front seat passenger so many good vehicles were taken off the list.
I also don't like their warranty, way too short in length. Stuff doesn't usually go wrong in the 1st 3 years and that is all you really get.
Good luck and I hope you enjoy it for many years.-----------------

Re: Subaru fans?
Thank you Brian,
I’m sorry for all the aggravation they caused you. Too bad it nearly took a terrible outcome before resolution.
I was driving mom around yesterday, running errands with her. She absolutely loved being chauffeured around in the Forester. Easy entrance and exit for the both of us. She sits a lot higher in the Forester than my Golf R which helps her look around. Also the ride is smoother and soaks up bumps and potholes much easier.
I’ve ruined 2 tires and possibly a rim on my Golf. The Forester has more meat on the tires. Only one big thing is the Golf R feels like it tracks on rails with zero body roll going around turns and corners. I do love that part of driving the R.
Overall I’m loving the Forester and enjoy the differences. I have not decided on the R’s fate as of yet. I don’t need both, but it’s a blast.Fleetwood Deville by Oswald Mills Audio, Vienna Acoustics Haydn Jubilee, Wharfedale Linton w/ stands, Klipsch RB-75, Klipsch RP-160M.
