Harry Belafonte Live at Carnegie Hall

Recorded over two nights on April 19 and 20th, 1959, this masterpiece of a recording has stood the test of time.

Belafonte held these two concerts to benefit The New Lincoln School and Wiltwyck Schools.

This was one of my Dad’s favorite albums and it’s one of mine. It’s certainly an album I never grow tired of. Belafonte is at his peek.

This latest AP 45RPM reissue was a bit of a crazy purchase, but I so love this album, I had to purchase it.

Mastered from the 3 track analog tape masters at Stirling Sound by Ryan Smith, this version and the 200g version are the ones to own.

To be honest, I’m not sure how many versions I have now. I have the original first pressing which was my Dad’s, and several repressings and remasters including the 200g version.

I have to say, this is sonically the winner. The bass is better and you can hear right into the recording. Dynamic passages are handled with more clarity than previous versions (all 33 1/3).

I had this on an LP back in the day. Then on a CD and now it's in a Tidal play list.

Another great old record is Benny Goodman recorded on a snowy Sunday at Carnegie Hall in 1938. Then there was also Judy Garland....

Great album! I have many versions - the original vinyl, Classics Reissue 33 and 45 boxes (two different vinyl formulations), SACD, 7.5ips Reel to Reel, and 15ips 2 track copy of Safety Master dub. It was a Harry Pearson TAS Superdisc on vinyl.
