Lumin A1
Good day, I need your help, I got a new Lumin A1 in 4k. I currently have the D2, for which I am very happy, but I think that with the A1 I can improve the sound, am I right? Is it worth the expense to get the A1? Thank you.

Re: Lumin A1
Okay. It’s a translation issue.
I never heard the A1, but is supposed to be 3rd in line from a sound perspective. Currently, the X1 is top, followed by the S1, and then the A1. Of course, this is subjective with some preferring the A1 over the S1.Bud

Re: Lumin A1
The A1 should be a significant improvement over the D2 with the only thing similar being the Wolfson Chipset. Better case, better internal parts and the external power supply. It is the top of the Wolfson series. The S1 is the ESS alternative.

4 K for A1 ? That’s an amazing price. I regret that sold mine. I should kept it as second DAC

Re: Lumin A1
I went from a D1 to an A1. It was definitely worth the cost to upgrade. Better sound and better looks.

Re: Lumin A1
Thank you very much for your opinions, my only doubt was because they no longer manufacture the A1, if one day something happens I do not know if Lumin solved my problem. Thanks once again. Greetings.

Re: Lumin A1
Given that the S1 was released a bit after A1, I'm curious how large of a gap in improvement does S1 have over the A1. Outside the different DAC chipsets, what other factors are contributing to the overall improvement in sound quality?

Re: Lumin A1
The differences come down to personal preference. I prefer the more analog sound of the Wolfson DAC in the A1. Other people like the enhanced detail of the Sabre chipset. To each his own.

I upgraded the power supply on my Gigafoil v4 to a Weiss PSU 102. It’s very nice step up. But with the new model, you’re looking at $2000 before even investing in a SOTA linear power supply.
