    Re: RIP iTunes?

As far as i know Apple Itunes will become Apple Music so dead , maybe but depending on how you see and read things will be interesting to see / hear on Monday what happens.

This is from the Bloomberg article
    End of iTunes

iTunes has been the way Apple users listen to music, watch movies and TV shows, hear podcasts, and manage their devices for almost two decades. This year, Apple is finally ready to move into a new era. The company is launching a trio of new apps for the Mac – Music, TV, and Podcasts – to replace iTunes. That matches Apple’s media app strategy on iPhones and iPads. Without iTunes, customers can manage their Apple gadgets through the Music app.

    Re: RIP iTunes?

Ten years ago, I used iTunes extensively to rip and store my library and create playlists. Over time it seemed every update made the app less useful as they removed features and made it more a vehicle to sell their music. Today, I don't use it at all; it might as well be dead.

I still use iTune software to rip CDs, but don’t buy that many CDs anymore.

I'm not an Apple guy, but at one time wasn't iTunes mandatory software for moving files between an iPhone and computer? What replaces that functionality?

Apple is going to a streaming business model for music. My guess is that eventually, as new versions of their bloatware become available, those downloaded iTunes songs will become unavailable to the user.

If you're talking about synchronizing music between your computer and an iOS or now iPadOS device, you should be able to continue doing that using the new Music app, which will automatically load up with all of the music-related data currently managed in iTunes after you upgrade macOS.

For "File Sharing", I'm not sure what the plan is. But maybe based on what they're saying about file management and the Files app on iPadOS, maybe it will go back to the older model of devices being available as mounted volumes.

Yup. Me too. Ripped everything to wav. I am thinking about purchasing a Roon Nucleus though. I like the functionality of Roon.

    Re: RIP iTunes?

It’s an Apple rebranding effort, we are an Apple House since the beginning and also started with iTunes, it made things simple and easy.

If it gets people to listen to music, then maybe they drift into mid to high end Audio - it’s what I did, it’s what we want right? I know the brands I own will say yes.

    Re: RIP iTunes?

In the Uk we have huge amounts of fraud as i am sure they do everywhere and does involve i tunes gift cards

interesting to read this email from local police here

    • Fraudsters are spoofing genuine HMRC telephone numbers to deceive their victims over the phone. The fraudsters state that as a result of the victim’s non-payment of tax or other duty, the victim is liable for prosecution or other legal proceedings in order to settle the balance. The fraudsters suggest victims can avoid this, by arranging payment to be made immediately by methods such as bank transfer or by purchasing iTunes gift cards.
