Magico S MKII vs M series

    Gentlemen

Can someone give me or point me to a condensed description of the differences between the two Magico lines?

    Thanks

Re: Magico S MKII vs M series

Thanks Gene. I should have been more specific I suppose. I'm looking for sonic impressions from someone who has laid ears on both. Heard the M2, M3, and M6 at Axpona 2019 and was faorably impressed. Also heard the S5 MkIs a few years ago and was less thrilled. However, the S5 MKII is an unknown quantity to me.

Don't get me wrong. I think my Rockport Cygnus competes very effectively with the Magicos, but the M series makes me wonder...

M3 is sweeter, more fluid, more natural. The S5 has better bass. Make no mistake - both are excellent speakers.

I had the S5 mk 2 then upgraded to M3.

I not sure the S5 has better bass but I am sure the S series is easier to set up to get bass vs. the M products. With the M's, it takes many fine adjustments to get them to sing but when u get it right the bass is amazing.......

Where would you put the S5 MKII and the M3 against the Rockport Cygnus?

and other puerile trance rubbish right now and I'm just blown away by the whole experience.

I think based on my experience owning S3Mk2 and (the original) Aviors that Rockport tends to have much more body and weight in the midrange compared to Magico as well as more extended if even somewhat excessive/subwoofer like low frequencies once you are used to a sealed unit (non ported bass). The original Avior was a darker sound but that was with the old tweeter. Rockports are not as fast as the Magico which is an incredible strength of theirs. Someone this week just relayed what I think is a dealers comment "Rockports are for those who listen to the music, Magico is for owners who listen to the gear". Not sure I agree completely with this statement but I know what he means - the Magicos certainly do have that resolving ability to be a microscope into your system and acoustical envelope without being excessively aggressive as they do present that detail in a most musical and enjoyable fashion.
