Are Salk speakers in the same category/league for sonic excellence as say, Revel, Focal, KEF, Elac, B&W, etc.?
Just curious about Salk speakers. I've read glowing comments about them. How good are they?

I'm not that familiar with Salk's price points and models. I have heard their speakers and like them a lot. In fact, they make a $2500 powered speaker I like the sound of over the KEF LS50W. Not sure how those both compare on features but you asked if if Salk holds its own.
It's hard to predict how a speaker will behave with various electronics and rooms. From my memory of the Salk towers they were more a musically engaging speaker opposed to one that will catch your attention at first with a bold bass or vivid highs. Sort of like a good Thiel ssif you've heard any of those. Not exactly but in more of that camp.Aurender ACS10 w/Audioquest Diamond USB, Esoteric N05xd

I think they are very good. Jim Salk is a true gentleman and the quality of craftsmanship is second to none. I've heard his offerings at numerous shows and even had a set here in my house for a local audio club meet several years ago. (His shop is here in Michigan - about a mile from me - and he was very generous to loan a set of SongTower RTs for a quasi-audition/demo for our gathering.) While I don't own his speakers at the moment, I do think they do compete with the best and I would encourage you to either contact him directly or see if there are any locals near you who have them who would let you come by for an audition.
And if you're going to be at Axpona in a few weeks, they'll be in rooms 570 and 384, too!Harbeth C7ES-3/30 • Pass Labs XA30.5 • McIntosh C220 • Modwright/Sony SCD-XA5400ES • VPI Scout+ADS/JMW-9/Nagaoka MP-500

I think his speakers are excellent performers. Not that I have room for another pair of speakers or another system, but I regularly look at classifieds for local used ones (I might be tempted for the right model).
Main System - Lumin U2, Modwright LS36.5 DM Preamp, VTV Purifi 1ET-7040SA with tube buffer, EMM Labs DAC 2X (ver. 2), Torus RM-20, Thiel CS 3.7s, 2 Rel S/812 subs
Back-up 1 - Premium Audio mini Gan Amp, Oppo 103D, 2 Richard Gray cond, Selah SA-2s, Sumiko S5 sub, Teac UD-503 DAC, Carver (modded) C-9
