    SonarQuest AC Plugs

    Hey There DIYer's-

I have made all my power cords using DH Labs wire (RedWave on Amps and PowerPlus on the other components) and Wattgate Edison and IEC connects (Gold Plated with RedWavw and standard on PowerPlus).

I noticed Amazon has the SonicQuest and HiFi King connects at much better pricing than Wattgate. They also have a Red Copper version without plating that from my understanding may be better than gold plating.

Anyone ever use these connectors? Any comments as to their quality? I need to make one or two more cords and am curious.

    Thanks!

Cullen Cable uses SonarQuest plugs so you may want to reach out to Patrick and ask him about them.

    Another alternative.

Gold plating is great for low current, low voltage circuits like in phono cartridge and microphone connectors.
But it's fragile surface is bad news in high current, high voltage circuits like in AC power connectors.

    Jack and Speedskater-

Thanks for the info. Cables are an area I tread lightly in and feel diminishing returns quickly pile up.
