    Help with Mcintosh 275 amp

    I have a Mcintosh 275 vi It has the stock KT 88 tubes The amp sound very warm and good but It lacks air and detail . Is there a better set of tubes that can add pin point detail and more accurate lower frequency or do I need to get a different amp. I have d1100 preamp and mct 500 cd player and revel F208 speakers

    Hi godfatherpc...try Genalex Gold Lion tubes. I have them in my c2500 preamp and it did give me more air and detail over the stock tubes.

    whats difference in sound quality with KT88 and 6550

    I had an Audio Research that used 6550's. I replace them with Gold Lion KT-88. Much better sounding. Fuller, more open and detailed.
