    Mira questions

I'm interested to know how the original Miras perform at mid-low volume and what sort of distance do they need from rear and side walls. I have only heard them in a large room. Can anyone give me a minimum room size that they are likely to work in.

What's the size of your room?

    Re: Mira questions

About 4 x 3.5m at present. I have Avalon Ideas positioned across the room, but I'm looking to move so I'm generally interested in what sort of size room the Miras would work well in. Given their depth I think that my current room would not be ideal but I'm happy to be advised otherwise.

    Re: Mira questions

I listened to a used pair of Miras last month through the VAC 450 monos and reckon they needed to be listened at mid to higher volumes for them to come to life. Seems to like a bit more current too, pressurizes the room well, but not difficult to drive. The Mira and Atria would work in a smaller room.

I must admit I was wanting to walk away with the speakers after that.

The space you mentioned is pretty good size. I am considering the Atria II for a much more complex space. But the Mira love to be played louder. Tool Forty Six & Two never sounded better to me on the other speakers.

Thanks Bob, just the sort of thing I needed to know. I had heard similar reports from someone who owned a pair. My worry is that I dont generally listen at high levels so maybe I should be looking elsewhere.

My regular dealer had the Miras traded in for a pair of demo Eggleston-Works Viginti. The Rockies were previously driven by McIntosh electronics and the last owner listened to them low to mid volume. Initially, Miras sounded dismal but opened up after a week.

I don’t think the Miras would sound timid at low volume if they are driven well. Perhaps crank it up once in a while to give the speakers a workout.

Rockies are rarely recommend with tube, usually high current solid state like Boulder, Ayre, Gryphon, Vitus, Constellations Audio but the VAC gear drove them with solid-state like grips, control and authority.

    Re: Mira questions

Im using Aesthetix amplification which I imagine would be a good combination.
