    FirstWatt SIT-3

I have to use a resistor across mine to keep the ohms down. My Duo are 18 ohms.

    Joe,
I see that you still have the Pass Labs XA25. Did you have a chance to compare the XA25 to the SIT3 on your speakers? If yes, what was your impression? (One of the employees at Reno Hifi thinks the XA25 is slightly better than the SIT3).
    Thanks,
    Anshul

    Re: FirstWatt SIT-3

While the XA25 is a superb amp, it's a little more neutral with a little more solid state character. I absolutely prefer the SIT-3 by a long shot.

Maybe if my speakers were different ....

    Re: FirstWatt SIT-3

    To Mike and Joe,

Are there any other mainstream speaker brands (apart from Avantgarde) that would work well with the SIT-3 amp in a medium sized room (no more than 15 X 20 feet dimension)? Devore 0/96 come to mind but their nominal impedance is about 10 ohms. From what I have read, the SIT-3 amp prefers impedance below 8 ohms.

    Thanks,
    Anshul

    Re: FirstWatt SIT-3

Agree with Jack on these, also some Harbeth work well.

Impedance should be below 8 and above 4 with a fairly benign load.

According to one review, the P3esr were a glorious match.

Jack Roberts used the SIT-3 to great success with the Devore Super 9's which he eventually bought.

I’m not sure what the supply of SIT3 is at this point. Some occasionally show up on the used market.

When I quit selecting the "best" songs in an album, and just get immersed in the music and find myself listening to the whole enchilada, I know I am listening to the right equipment. The First Watt SIT-3 gets me to that place.

I’m so happy for you. The SIT3 is an amazing amp - so musical and a great match with high efficiency speakers. Definitely my favorite solid state amp so far, at least the one I cannot live without.

Ha! Thanks. That’s a great way of putting it. His room is huge (25 x 35 ish) and the big AG Duo Mezzo’s fill it beautifully and the synergy with the Select II and SIT-3 is awesome.

Any idea how the SIT-3 would compare to the FW J-2 I have as a solid state option for my Duo Mezzo's when i don't want to heat up the room with my Nagra VPAs?
