Magico announces APOD’s and Optional Grills for A3’s
The APOD is based on the scientific design principles of Constrained Layer Damping (CLD) and provides an effective way to couple the A3 loudspeaker to the floor while dissipating unwanted mechanical energy away from the enclosure. Demonstrable results include increased dynamics, enhanced focus, greater resolution, and a closer representation of the original musical performance as it was intended during the recording process.
The main structure of the APOD is formed from multiple machined aluminum sections which when assembled form a vertical stack. A solid pure copper substrate center round is sandwiched by a top and bottom layer of aluminum that when compressed together facilitates the Constrained Layer Damping (CLD) function. An adjustable spiked footer threads into the APOD base and when locked into position provides solid coupling to the floor.
Direct installation of the APOD is intended for the A3, S1 Mk II and S3 Mk II.
$1550 for APOD - 8 pack
$600 for grills/pair

Re: Magico announces APOD’s and Optional Grills for A3’s
In the world of HE Audio, the retail price for the APODS looks very reasonable. Now, the question is how much of an improvement?

That's great
The A3s were already a great speaker at that price point. Nice to be able to upgrade them.Jock

For sure...a set of 8 APods not much more than a single MPod. I wonder if APod is being built for them in China?

They look very similar to Spod in size, shape and construction. But Spod are twice the price of Apod. I wonder why?

Re: Magico announces APOD’s and Optional Grills for A3’s
Thanks for sharing Larry, that looks to be an interesting option.
I was looking into the APODs and SPODs, but as I am really happy with the sound as it is, I have not pulled the trigger. The Gaias might indeed be an option as well.
How would you describe the sound improvement with the Gaias?
Also, would it be possible to share a picture of the full S3 mk2s with the Gaias, to see how they fit proportionally with the speakers?

The speaker sits on faux wood tile on top of a concrete slab. The best I can describe the difference was that the sound tightened up all the way around. I was sorta a skeptic

Re: Magico announces APOD’s and Optional Grills for A3’s
Im pretty close to 'pulling the trigger' on A3's. Those Gaia supports probably are just on the wrong side of WAF however. For my in-home test I just put the A3 spikes onto Herbie sliders. Something more isolating Im sure would yield improvement, but not sure I can swing the Gaias. I'd love to eliminate spikes altogether if possible.

Just an observation - the lettering on the GAIA must be facing exactly forward or optionally I believe 180 from front. Not turned to the side which it looks like the left one is as no lettering is shown.
It may be just the pic but just thought I would mention it if you weren’t awareMain:

And why would a speaker company put out a speaker without the best footings? Wouldn’t you want them to sound their best right out of the gate? Or maybe it’s just a..........

The technologies are totally different. One is about dissipation (more costly to develop) and the other is about isolation.
