    MSB Premier Powerbase

I'm curious about the pricing for upgrading the Discrete DAC with the Premier Powerbase.

This is what the website says:

Upgrade from Discrete Power Supply MSRP $7,500.00
Upgrade later with 20% restocking fee* MSRP $8,950.00
Doe this mean if you order the DAC with the power base, it costs $7500 more and you get DAC+powerbase and no other power supply ?

If you want to upgrade later, you send in DAC + power supply and get back DAC with power base and it costs $1495 more than if you ordered with it ?

Odd since Discrete power supply is $1450
    My system:
Power: PS Audio P15 , dedicated 20amp circuits
Front End: MSB Discrete DAC with MSB renderer

    Pre: Simaudio Moon 740P
    Amp: McIntosh MC462
    Speakers: B&W 802 D3
Interconnects: AQ Earth XLR and Stealth Metacarbon
Speaker Cable: AQ Type 4 (20 ft runs)

Don’t confuse power supply with power base. Yes, the numbers are correct.

Yes, its cheaper if you purchase the Powerbase upfront vs. later on. And yes, you have to send back the original power supply if you do the upgrade.

The power base upgrade pricing still makes no sense to me, but thats OK because I doubt I would do it. I was just curious.

I ordered the Premier with powerbase and paid the additional $7.5k for it. No other power supply (the powerbase is the power supply).

If you buy without the powerbase and decide to upgrade later, you send in the discrete power supply and you get the powerbase if you pay $8950.

So yes - it costs $1495 more to do this upgrade compared to if you ordered the DAC with the powerbase in the first place.

So it is a cost of upgrading. Makes sense to me. What am I missing?

    Re: MSB Premier Powerbase

The Powerbase is no small upgrade at 38% of the price of the base Premier (with the included Discrete Power Supply). The other option is to get a Second Discrete Power Supply at $1450. It will be interesting to hear opinions of how worthwhile these three options are.

I laughed when I first read this but after doing a little research I now think if you have a Hurricane PC you don't even need a DAC .
