Amplifier keeps cutting out and make clicking sounds

    Hey all,

So I recently switched on an old Luxman L-116A amplifier and it makes this click sound, causing the sound coming from the speakers to get cut off. And after a few seconds this happens again and the sound comes back on.

Anyone knows why this is happening?

Too many variables to be able to pin it down via the internet.
It could be a bad solder joint or component or a thermal overload. All of which will "open" with heat (operation) and then when unit is shut down they (it) will cool down and reset allowing the music to resume.
Either way, it looks like it's time to get it to a qualified technician.

Almost sounds like there may be a short somewhere. I would check the speaker wires and where they connect into the speakers and amplifier. Check the length of the cables to make sure there is not an issue... break in the wires, pet chewing, etc.

If you want to be sure its not your speakers, unplug your speakers and plug in a pair of headphones in the headphone jack on the front. If it still happens , All this could be is dirty jacks, dirty switches maybe some DeoxIT is required. Just a guess.
