Record Brushes
I got the standard Goat's Hair Brush with my new record cleaning machine and a friend said to switch to a MoFi brush instead. I have a Record Doctor brush that looks identical to the MoFi brush, are they the same thing made by two different manufacturers?Speakers- Dynaudio Contour 1.8 Mk II, Amp - Pass Labs X150.5, Preamp - McIntosh C2600, Turntable - Music Hall MMF-9.3, Cartridge - Goldring Eroica LX, Phono PreAmp - Sutherland Insight, Digital Playback - Rotel RCD-1072, DAC - Bryston BDA-3, Headphones - Sennheiser HD-660S, and Drop + Dan Clark Audio Ether CX. Headphone Amp - Bryston BHA-1

Re: Record Brushes
I use this AQ brush. It works great. The carbon fibers are connected to the metal in the handle and it acts as a ground, much better than a similar brush I was using that did not have the ground.

Jack
If you're talking about wet cleaning brushes I prefer the Listener Select brushes from Osage Audio. Don't care for the MoFi brushes at all.

Re: Record Brushes
Jack - I'm not sure whether the Record Doctor and MoFi brushes are identical but they appear to be very similar, and different than the goat's hair brush that came with your RCM. Some use one brush for cleaning fluid and another only for distilled water rinse, so if you decide to follow such a procedure you could try a particular brush for each step. The carbon fiber AQ brush and other similar brushes are intended for dry dusting records only, not for applying fluid with a RCM.

Re: Record Brushes
Is there something wrong with using the goats hair brush for wet cleaning? Mine seems to do a fine job. Much better than the velvet brush looking thing that came with the Gritty.

I upgraded the power supply on my Gigafoil v4 to a Weiss PSU 102. It’s very nice step up. But with the new model, you’re looking at $2000 before even investing in a SOTA linear power supply.
