KT150 tubes in a Ref 110 - Has anybody tried it ?
Hi
I am keen to know if anybody has tried the new KT150 tubes in a Ref110 ?
Hopefully someone has some personal experience to share?

Don't quote me, but I remember the KT150 was hinted at being compatible in the REF75, 150, 250, and 750 (later confirmed) but not recommended in the previous generation of reference amps.

Bob
Arc has confirmed that KT150 can be used in the Ref 110. I am somewhat surprised that there seems to be no feedback on how KT150 sound in a Ref 110 ?
Since the Ref 110 can operate with four KT120 valves I would love to know how it performs with four Kt 150 valves at half the power rating to be used in a similar manner as with the Ref 75. It will save me from buying a lower powered valve amp as the Ref 110 will only be used to drive midrange and tweeters.
In fact I am amazed that your Ref 75 is powerful enough to drive your Wilson's, which just re-affirms my thinking that 100+ watts of valve power for midrange and tweeters could be overkill.
Take care

Well, that would be very interesting way to use KT 150s in your Ref110. I never would have considered using fewer valves then the design called for.

Yes...it makes for a BIG improvement. Every demo I've heard where at Altaira was in the system, folks listened, and then the Altaira(s) were removed, and folks immediately demanded the Altaira be put...
