My new SUV......2018 Porsche Macan GTS

My last Porsche was a guards red 944s. Before that a 924. They both spent more time at the shop than in my garage lol.
Porsche has climbed in reliability ratings so decided to revisit. The Macan GTS is not your father’s suv with a 0-60 in around 4.5 seconds and top speed 159mph. It feels like a true sports car specially with
sports 2 mode engaged and takes curves like on rails.
Its cargo capacity is much less than my previous Lexus RX.....sorry Mike!

It didn’t happen if you don’t post pics Rob!
Ran my first tank full through and I averaged 22mpg surprisingly. My old RX350 got only 19mpg in real life.
I got the sunroof tinted and the front windows to match rear, which makes the Florida sun more tolerable.
Thanks for all your nice comments.

If you say so. I think the BMW 3 series is still considered a benchmark for small sports sedans, but perhaps your tastes run to this?

Fugly as sin, You guys in the USA have a different idea of small to us in the Antipodes, I drive a 2006 Mazda 3 and I consider it too large for my needs most of the time, but the ingress of unwieldy SUVs forced upon us by the trends over there in your PART of the world (limited saloons available in the real world) has reduced what we would like to choose from by a significant amount.

Re: My new SUV......2018 Porsche Macan GTS

I know what you mean. Still, when we were in Europe last year we saw many cars not available in the US, and quite desirable ones IMO. Almost no pickups at all, and the ones we did see were “compact” ones (at least as so designated in the US). Lots of vans of all sizes, many more than what we see in the US. So I’m not quite sure I buy your argument about influence of the US on what is available to you, unless your country’s trade and other policies make it so.

I have driven the Macan when my Cayenne was in for service. It felt much smaller and lighter and if you didn't pay attention to what is behind the front seats you would think you are driving a sports sedan.

I will probably stick with another Cayenne next year as the Macan cabin feels a bit tight.

Re: My new SUV......2018 Porsche Macan GTS

Ford and GM (2 of the 4 highest sellers) have fulled out of Australia leaving little input to the choice of vehicle we can obtain. Ford have/are reducing the number of small cars available and concentrating on Utes(pick up) and SUVs.
One of the highest selling cars here, Holden Commodore is now imported from the states I don't know what it would be there, it is a Chevy as far as I can make out. Problem being as it is now imported it will attract import tax and no longer receive government subsidies, pricing it above those people it used to be aimed at.

Sorry to go Off Topic, I'll get my coat.

At least we still make good HiFi.
