    Suncoast Audio welcomes Constellation Audio

The newly improved Constellation amps (series II and new amps like the Taurus) are on another planet (no pun intended) from the first amps they launched with a number of years ago.

The Constellation sound is so tube like. In this month’s TAS, JV mentions Constellation as one of the top best. I can see why.

The direct connect from the Constellation preamps to the amps adds another level as well. U.S. made to boot! Suncoast Audio welcomes Constellation Audio

How would I summarize their sound? “Tube like”.

I haven’t heard it, but I’ve been talking to Mark Jones (dealer in Toronto) and he brought in a demo Constellation integrated and really likes it. However, we both know, the Diablo 300 is incredible. I have a LOT of integrated amps and the Diablo 300 along with the T+A PA3100HV are the best SS integrated amps I’ve heard.

None. Rick thinks I need to bring them home to try on the AG’s. I have a pair of Duo XD’s coming to the store in a month, so maybe I’ll wait.

Mike, if you could connect a preamplifier Audio Research to a Constellation amplifier, your opinion on how it compares to a Constellation preamplifier would be very interesting.

Sure. This is the front room, which is 17 x 25. DB level would be high 80's at the listening position. It's not overly loud.

Back from audiologist. All is very very good .... As for rooms, mine is only a bit larger. I use an app on my phone that shows me how many decibels I'm hearing at my phones/seated position. Decibel X is what it's called.
    System:

Wireworld 8 optical cable into the Empirical Audio Synchro Mesh from the TV and Blueray to reclock
Wireworld Platnium 8 ethernet cables into the EMO 70e ethernet filter into The Memory Player from Eero mesh router
All routers, cable box and synchro mesh powered by the Wyred4sound LPS box with separate supplies for each
Audioquest power outlets and four dedicated power lines in the room

Re: Suncoast Audio welcomes Constellation Audio

Question for those who have heard both. I am curious. Stereo amp???? Centaur mk1 or the new Taurus? My system is Vandersteen Quatro CT and will soon be The Memory Player server, streamer and integrated DAC (totally new one, not their former one). They built in a high quality analog volume control into it also along with its separate power supply etc.. Audioquest WEL balanced interconnect and probably the soon to be released AQ Firebird speaker cables.

I have read a bit and spoken to a few who have quickly auditioned both and have mixed thoughts. I'll need to audition myself before making any decisions, but thought I'd throw it out there. Also, you said it doesn't use the normal cord input. How in the world can you use an after market power cord? Thanks

The mk2 or series like the Taurus (built on the mk2 platform) are a big step up over mk1. Constellation told me they doubled many of the components. So, for me, there’s no mixed thoughts. The mk2 or Taurus/Inspiration are complete.

The power cord is a 20amp IEC. No big deal.

To me, current Constellation amps, along with their superb preamps, are the amps we dreamed about for years: a solid state amp that sounds like tubes, that doesn’t get overly hot (like class A) and is made in the USA.
