Hi from Utrecht, the Netherlands
I have been a HiFi fan for as long as I can remember. Have owned a lot of high end equipment over the years, and slowly found out that technology has progressed to a point where a lot of the electronics is at a very high level. Not so for the speakers: there is still a lot of garbage being sold, and the good old speakers that were built in the seventies are still going strong.
I have owned IMF TLS50's, until my high-school-graduating son blew them up on his party.
It took me a while before I went back to IMF, and purchased a set of TLS80-II's. Great, and I thought I would never part from them.
Until I found that we were going to move to a smaller house in time, and the IMF's were not getting any smaller.
So I sold them, person that bought them had been searching for 4 years and was even emotional when listening to them in my house.
After that I was planning to buy a high end soundbar with subwoofer. Never got that far, and decided to follow the heart and stay with IMF. I now own a set of Super Compact II's, mk2. They sound like the baby brothers of my good old TLS80's: sounds the same, except for the missing lower base.
But what can you expect from this size.
I plan to keep on the lookout for a pair of ALS40's. Not quite the TLS80, but closer and probably the size I can still afford to put in my house....

Re: Hi from Utrecht, the Netherlands
Welcome! I have a pair of IMF Super Compact II’s. I recapped them with caps from Falcon Acoustics and to this day I still love the sound in this diminutive three way speaker. I haven’t used them for a while but I always loved their synergy with my restored Advent 300 and Marantz 2230 receivers.

Re: Hi from Utrecht, the Netherlands
Ok, since I started this thread, I have been lucky and found a set of ALS40-II. They were already refoamed and recapped, and sound great. Initially I was disappointed, until I found that these speakers should NOT be placed on a stone floor, they need to be on stands. Made a big difference.
I was quite happy, until I ran across a set of ALS40-IIa. These are the last models that were made, with the bextrene "spokes" on both woofers. I have never heard them, since they are extremely rare. But I plan to listen to them tomorrow, and expect I will buy. Will keep you informed.

I upgraded the power supply on my Gigafoil v4 to a Weiss PSU 102. It’s very nice step up. But with the new model, you’re looking at $2000 before even investing in a SOTA linear power supply.
