    His preamp uses a 6J5 tube which is essentially i/2 of a 6SN7. Giving this, I would assume that it would lean to that octal flavoring vs the smaller noval (9 pin) seasoning.
    The octal preamps that I have heard tend to be more dimensional than a noval preamp with a somewhat fuller sound and I would expect the same from the 6J5 tube.
    But without hearing it this is only speculation.

    Yep Kid knows his stuff.

    Currently have one of Thomas's pre's in my system (a silver-wound 10Y) and is stunning. Great flow to the music.
