Yes Mike, I heard them many times hung from the ceiling with chains. This setup was a new take on an old speaker back then. I thought hung from the ceiling they had less bass then usual. Which was not much to begin with. I was running them with solid state 200 wpc, so had enough juice to put them through their paces. I take no credit away from Dr. Amar Bose as the 901’s were exciting for the time. But I would not put him up there with the best genius’ like Peter Snell, Edgar Villchur, Stu Hegerman or even Dick Shahinian. If monetary success is your guidepost, yes. But if great sound is your benchmark, Dick Shahinian had it all over Bose in the omnidirectional loudspeaker department. I have owned both.
