Mike, I am the same & have been known to put red in the fridge & serve it to winery owners. The look on their face is priceless & the ones with the most successful wineries just smile & drink without one quip.

Both good choices. I have Russell"s on my bar. Tariffs on Bourbon have become a drag.

I'm jealous of you guys. I was never a big wine drinker but loved whiskey. As I got older (after 35) one sip and I have instant heartburn. It's a curse I tell you!!

Now I am relegated to light liquor like Vodka and some some Tequila. Had an upper endoscopy as I was afraid I had something called Barret's esophagus but all checked out OK. No amount of Nexium cures the ill. So instead of sipping whiskey I now have to gulp my vodka.

Last nights spoils. A wonderful red wine blend from my favorite vineyard. If you’re ever in CA, a tour of Beringer’s is a must. No modern technology garbage like Mondavi which looks more like a data center than a winery, Beringer makes wine the old fashion way and the results speak for themselves.

    I feel your problem.
I have a hiatus hernia, but if I take my omeprazol before drinking, fortunately everything is fine. However, I have forgotten to take it once, and esophageal reflux two or three hours after I have fallen asleep is terrible.

My wife got the "present" from her group when she retired from her job. So its a freebie of sorts. Still hasn't been opened.

I went down to total Wine in Daytona and got the normal Blanco, but its still $75.00 buts a sipping tequila so it goes a long long way. Man the stuff is extra smooth.

I'm with you Mike, cubes are a good thing. Well, unless I don't have any ice, then, no cubes is OK.

Brad, it’s so damn hot here, we don’t need warm drinks! We need cold drinks! Maybe if we lived up north things would be different...

1942 is best consumed straight up or neat as suggested. I've been into mezcals and tequilas for ages and enjoy my anejos from a cognac sniffer w/o ice. at least it wasn't wasted in a cocktail--and im into cocktails.

Meant to say "shouldn't" touch that wine for 10 years.

Every wine tastes better from magnum, the down side is it takes even longer to age.

Glad you like the Caymus, I ordered up a half dozen of the 40th anniversary in 1 liter bottles... have been giving them away to different charity auctions. Too much vanilla for me, though some folks seem to love the stuff.

I’ve grown very fond of the Spottswood cabs.

That's why u need to age it!

That being said, current Caymus is riding on the name and isn't as good as the older vintages.

Re: What’s in your glass tonight?

I am in Stowe VT and have had many good beers in my glass this week. Today we traveled to Hill Farmstead in the middle of nowhere, but a great view of the leaves and good beers. We did Lost Nation on the way back. Rock art was also really good, but the highlight for us is that we are 3 minutes from The Alchemist and have been drinking Heady Topper, Crusher, and Focal Banger all week. They are having a special release of some 10% IPA tomorrow so I will top out at about 8cases plus various single bottles from the area.

    2 Days Left

    Cheers

Oberon is a far better Cab than its $21 price would suggest.

That drip was not created my me.

Tasting along as it decants... has changed some in the three hours since opening. Has great fruit now just a little big in the mouth and hoping some time in the decanter will help it smooth. Was great with grilled chicken tonight but a little large afterwards just for sipping.

How was the 2009? I think a bit young.
I think I have some Abreu in the cellar, possibly a 2006, I'll have a look.
