    Bosch (Amazon Original)

We recently checked this out and before we knew it, we cruised through all three seasons (season 4 is due “early 2018”).

Anyone else seen it? It’s an L.A. detective-crime drama that is produced to a higher degree than that of a “Law and Order”. I like that cases span more than just one episode so it’s not just a rinse-and-repeat structure to the show.

Titus Welliver does a good job and, best of all, carries a good ole 1911 as his sidearm.

    Re: Bosch (Amazon Original)

In the books, Harry Bosch is a diehard CD fan. I was a little disappointed to find that Connelly apparently caved to "peer pressure" and made him an LP lover instead

Interesting! He comes across as a traditionalist in the TV series, with vintage-looking gear, LPs, etc...

Right, but in the books, the short playing time of LP's would be a killer; he doesn't want to be bothered when he is either relaxing, or working at home. Also, he revels in the wealth of previously unreleased older jazz now on CD, mostly hard bop, from artists such as Art Pepper, Frank Morgan, etc

    Re: Bosch (Amazon Original)

We both like Bosch and await the new season. Titus Welliver was a excellent choice for Bosch. It is over 25 years since the first one was published and because of that they had to make accommodations for the TV series. He is no longer a Vietnam Vet but now a Gulf War Vet. The Amazon series also combines stories lines from different books but it has worked well so far.

Like others here I have read all of Connelly's books and finally talked my wife into starting with the first Bosch book on this vacation. I think she will continue.

I learned about Laurie Pepper's "Widow's Choice" series of posthumous live Art Pepper from the books, also turned on to Danny Grissett's solo work (although I already knew of him as a frequent piano choice for Tom Harrell albums).

Those are some fun factoids about the novels I didn’t know. I should look at picking the first one up after I finish what I’m reading now.

I'm always up for a good detective show. What I can't believe is that no one has said anything about that room. All that glass? It has to sound terrible in there. Get that man some drapes at least.

I really like the series (which I discovered via this thread). Noted the glass when I first saw it, but I guess they get some license for the setting. Plus, all those uv rays might play hell on the vinyl and finish on the speakers, but it makes for a nice setting for the show.

It is one of my favorite shows. Sean, thanks for those screen captures. For some reason, the left speaker is rarely visible, and for the longest time I was trying to figure where he placed it!

Has anyone read Connelly's latest Bosch novel, Dark Sacred Night? He introduces a new sidekick, Renée Ballard. So far, so good.

It seems this show likes to rotate between ok and good seasons. #2 and #4 were great, the others not so much. But at 10 episodes and filmed locally to us Angelenos, its a must watch!
