Ayre Codex and Balanced Headphone Cable
I just upgraded my DAC to an Ayre Codex. Wow! The headphone output is an improvement for me, too (surprisingly, over the headphone output of my ARC SP20).
My question: do any of you have experience or opinions on the sonic improvement I’d hear in getting my HiFi Man HE-560s recabled to take advantage of the Ayre’s balanced headphone output?
I’m aware there is some difference in a headphone’s ability to run in “true” balanced mode and I’m not sure what the 560s are designed to handle in this regard.
A custom cable looks like it’d run $400.
Thank you for any advice.Linn LP 12/ Ekos/ Lingo/ Krystal/ Keel/ Auralic/ Ayre QA9/ ARC Ref 6 + 3 SE/ ARC REF75 SE/ Sonus Faber Amati Anniversario

Re: Ayre Codex and Balanced Headphone Cable
Yes. The balanced headphone output is way better than the single ended.
I still have my balanced Cardas cable for my Hifiman Edition Xs even though I sold the codex.

Thank you for your opinion. I’d be interested in buying your Cardas cable if you’d like to part with them. I do neeed a 10 foot length, however.
