Does anyone know?

I believe they are different pressings. Some Hi-Rez, some CD quality, some remasters.

Re: Why so many duplicate albums on Tidal?
Maybe it’s like a database, not in the literal sense but for lack of words, “garbage in, garbage out”, or a different royalty structure depending on who issued the recording?

Re: Why so many duplicate albums on Tidal?
In some instances you will find they have CD quality and both 24/96 and 24/192 versions. Other times you will find a MQA version in lieu of one o the high rez version. Occasionally you will have two different CD quality versions, one for the US and one for another region.

Re: Why so many duplicate albums on Tidal?
It could be some difference between those duplicat albums, such as audio quality and different version. As for me, I usually get Tidal music and tracks with AudFree Audio Capture as it could give me the best Tidal audio quality and I can listen to Tidal music on any device as I like no matter which device I like.

Re: Why so many duplicate albums on Tidal?
Hence the problem with Tidal.
Maybe it is related to different catalog ID/product ID's which we would never see and Tidal thinks its somehow different. Maybe Qubuz can perform better when there is a duplicate, like a different rate, or mastered definition so a user can make a decision on which one to play. .A catalog number is the identification number a record label assigns to a release.2chl : Vincent Sp331MkII, W4S STP-SE Stage 2, Kef 201/2, KEF 140, Vapor Breeze, Lumin, Bryston CD, BHA-1, Quicksilver Headamp, HD650, HD800s, HD820's, Dan Clark 1.1, Focal Stellia, OPPO 203, 105. Re: Why so many duplicate albums on Tidal?
Usually it's a different release, which may or may not be a different master. It is also possible that a particular version is available to Tidal subscribers in some countries but not others.

Re: Why so many duplicate albums on Tidal?
I wish all the services did a better job labeling. You have to open every album to see the details. Release date, resolution, etc. Takes a lot of time. When you find what you want you can star it for easy reference.
