Saw these at CEDIA. Extremely impressive build quality, and when you check the prices, it's even more amazing. AQ really stepped up their power cord game!

The Hurricane is a home run. That’s the one to buy in the new series IMO. However, we felt Tornado to be the sweet spot in bang for buck. These cables are dead quiet and have such great presence. In the store, I’m going with AQ for power and MIT for signal in one room and all Shunyata Sigma power and signal in the other. In the third room, I switch between Siltech (for Avantgarde) and Ansuz (for Harbeth).

Any observations on Hurricane compared to Shunyata Alpha or Sigma?

Am I correct that Hurricane is an amp/power conditioner cord and not really designed for source gear?

You’ll get me in trouble either way! The Hurricane can be used on sources or amps.

They’re both amazing. Very system dependent. The Shunyata has great body, the AQ has great presence.

Great video. 18:45 in Garth talks about the AQ Storm power cables.

I have Tornado and Hurricane (the irony!) in the store.

I think Shunyata and AQ make the best power cables.

I have recently ordered the Hurricane High Current... I've owned the NRG-5, NRG-10, NRG-1000 and WEL signature power cables so I think I'll be able to make a decent review... Unfortunately you and I will have to wait another fortnight for it as the Hurricanes are still on their way!

I just got the new Hurricane High Current cables. I didn't have the time to listen just yet, as my new DAC should only arrive late next week.

You’re in for a real treat. Try swapping back and forth with ANY other power cable. Very noticeable differences. I noticed the biggest difference on the amp, then source, then preamp.

I have some new FireBird HC’s on order. FireBird is just below Dragon (which I also have).

    Mike,

Could you describe the Firebird in terms of models, design, conductors and price? Can’t find any info on it.

    Thanks,

I have tried the 'old' Hurricanes. Amazing value for money. A friend of mine have just recabled his entire upscale Jadis system with Thunders. I didn't want to try the Dragons ... for obvious reasons ($$$).

Those new power cords are a slam dunk for AQ. Simply outstanding.

Can only trust the comments on sound quality, they do look like something capable. If I was not so cabled out I would consider a demo of these.

Well, maybe the "small cdifferences" were worked into the Hurricane before the color change
I have both older red, newer red, and blue, but I'm not going to go swap happy looking for sonic differences. They all sound great. I'm more interested in the new cable(s) between Hurricane and Dragon, but the reported upcoming price increases puts a bit of a damper on it.

Well, I've read Gareth's email and indeed he says there is no difference between the old and new Hurricane apart from the blue jacket. The reason they changed the jacket from Red to Blue is 'cos they felt the new upcoming Fire Bird should be red

Since Bill Low told me about this in Munich, where I have spoken with like 1000 people about all stuff audio related, I must have mixed sth up.

Where will the Fire Bird fall in the line? Above the Hurricane and below the Dragon? I have not seen info on it yet...
