that can't make a lap around the 'ring.

    0-60 isn't very important in 2017. a Mustang is south of 4.

The specs are astonishing. 0-60 in 1.9s and 1000km of battery autonomy!

Put that on top of uncanny cornering agility due to very low centre of gravity due to battery placement! Yikes!

Roadster would climb from 0 to 100 mph in 4.2 seconds, and will clear the quarter mile in 8.9 seconds

You can reserve one now for $50,000 towards the $200,000 base price – or get one of the first 1,000 Founders Series models with more performance and an asking price of $250,000 that has to be paid now.

the question is how many times in quick succession it can do that 0-60 time? in it's single charge cycle? or even in it's lifetime? or how it is after 10k or 20k miles? current Tesla's lose a percentage of their 'spark' over time......and not a lot of time.

if it's like a Duracell battery and loses it's mojo then those gaudy numbers don't really carry very far forward. more like a shooting star. and in an exotic future value is a huge issue. $200k + for a toy that fizzles out is not going to fly.

if they somehow solved that 'cold fusion' technology limitation then good for them. we will see how that plays out.

Fastest , most boring cars ever ........

Take away the forced tax payers subsidy and less see where this "tech" ends up, yesterday was the release of another tax subsidy "elec-tech" the exciting "500ml" range electric trucks ....

Electric cars are nice and if you want one , fine, those wanting should pay for it without the captive drama ...

    Regards ..

The most amazing thing, to me, is that the tires can do that.

I looked at Tesla this spring. Ended up with a 550 BMW xDrive. I liked the feel of it more.

Big difference between a bone stock Tesla and a non stock GT running 10.8et. But me, I would still take a non battery car over a battery driven machine. Really not into stopping and having a charge just to go to grandmas up the road in another state. But my neighbor likes his, although they only drive around town.

Tesla unveils stunning new Roadster as fastest car ever

I saw what I presume was a prototype of a Roadster on I-35 in Austin a couple weeks ago. As we were driving up on it, I thought it was a Lotus, but then saw the Tesla badge.

Looks sweet but I’ll forever be a petrol-head.
