Just to be clear - the D’Ags combo was fantastic. Resolving, attack, big sound stage. But just a bit dry for my taste. Am talking small margins here.

Haven’t listened to Momentum, but. But a lot more expensive than the Progression and the Antileon EVO + Zena. That would be an interesting show-down...

Woah. Awaiting my Diablo 300 delivery tomorrow after a 5 month wait and you are already considering upgrading. Good times. Would be interesting to hear your comparison of the Antileon with the Diablo 300.

Re: Gryphon 300 - one month later

Haha. A rush of blood! It's a slippery slope this 'hobby' (or addiction...) of ours. I absolutely love my Diablo 300 and I intended to keep it for a long, long time. But I decided to go for the MSB Premier for my DAC, knowing it is likely to be a decent pre-amp and so sometime in the future I would have the option to swap out the Diablo for a Gryphon power amp. I wasn't expecting the future to arrive so quickly

Will let everyone know my thoughts on the Diablo 300 vs Antileon EVO show down. The AE will need to be not just 'better' but 'HFS better' for me to part with my Diablo.

Since you have started with MSB, how about the 204 Power amps? Heard them in Munich together with the Select II, and they were just astounding.

Re: Gryphon 300 - one month later

Having had my Diablo 300 for more than a year I decided to give the Nordost Sort Kones a go. I experimented with both BC, TC and AC. With 3 as well as 4. The best combo in my set up was 2 BC on either side of the bolt holding the transformer. And then two TC at the rear left and right corner of the amp. In my room with my set up the bass became even tighter and deeper. This was easy to determine when playing Boz Scaggs song Thanks To You on the album Dig. There are some deep base going on after a minute and one could simply feel how the chest, the fabric on my clothes and sofa vibrated more with the Sort Kones - in comparison with out them. I also got a deeper soundstage, more 3D simply.

I think they have been around since 2011. The nice thing about testing audio feet is that it is easily inserted and removed. So you can repeat the session over and over again until you've come to a conclusion on how/if they work in your set up.

There are some people on the forum pairing it with Magico S3 mk2s. I understand that is a nice combination.

    Hi Blackbeird,

I have long been an owner of Gryphon and Wilsons. In fact, i started with CJ ACT2/Gryphon Antileon then CJ GAT/Gryphon Colosseum and now CJ GAT2/Gryphon Mephisto. I am a big fan of Gryphon and Wilson, and also know a few other owners across the world who drive their Wilsons with Gryphon. I have not specifically tried your combination, but given that after 3 different Gryphon components which had a recognizeable voice...your Gryphon/Wilson combination has tremendous potential.

Regarding powercables, i have not experimented much. I used to use the Gryphon VIP Ref 5 cable with my Colosseum...but simply because i happened to have 2 Purist Audio Anniversary cables...i use them with the Mephisto Stereo (which requires one PC for each channel).

Please let us know how it works out!

I was too, and I cannot recommend that combination highly enough. I moved on a bit and split out the Diablo into the Antileon Evo and the Pandora, and it resulted in a step up. Or two. Was it worth it? Yes. But, bang for buck, I loved my Diablo.

    Today, these two beauties unpacked!
    (Gryphon Diablo 300; Accuphase A-75)
I want to arrange a fight between them with these cool speakers!
    TAD Evolution One TX
    I wonder who will win?

Cool competition. A bit different amps, makes comparing more difficult.

What are the criteria to determine which one gets the nod?

Very much depends on personal taste and system matching IMO

I know that there will be a different character of music.
    Different tones, different bass, middle.
I will evaluate first of all by how much the music will capture me!
    In other words, for musicality!

What will you use as the pre for the A-75? (In the U.S. the A-75 alone is about 2X the MRSP of the Diablo 300.)

Re: Gryphon 300 - one month later

Finally, a comparative test has been done!
With a very small advantage, Accuphase A75 won!
The sound of Accuphase was a bit more transparent at the highest frequencies. And in my opinion, the tandem Accuphase - TAD involved a little more in music! The Gryphon 300 played more assertively more dynamically! And that was great too! But on classical music Accuphase was better!
Therefore, I connected Accuphase with TAD R1. And recorded a video!

    Hold your breath!

Great Giuliano Carmignola plays J.S. Bach!

I would like to see the Accuphase configuration compared against a Luxman M-900u/C-900u.

Great sound, based on the video. I’m sure the combo is terrific live.
