    D'Agostino Momentum amp stand

Does anyone own / use the Momentum amp Stand? I see these are pretty expensive.

Besides looking good, does the stand provide an increase in sound quality?

I use the bases and a Mapleshade platform for isolation and even better air circulation. These babies put out a lot of heat. The flow of the air through the side mounted heat sinks is bottom to top through the heatsink holes. I would not put them directly on a carpet where the air flow into the heatsinks is restricted.

I had them with my D'ag monos. Definitely worth it. Sounded better on their stand vs just on wooden amp stands. As Eric said, the cooling benefit should not be underestimated. Plus, they look cool.

    thanks guys

I have mine on a Symposium Stand. I am thinking of getting my Stereo upgraded to S250 and perhaps the stand at teh same time, but the bloody stand is expensive.

    Are the feet adjustable?

    cheers

    +1

Even on solid floors (not carpet), the increased ventilation does help.

we put Shun Mook resonators under Momentums (running Alexadnria X2S2) and the SQ went up significantly. Piano, vocals, everything.

I use SRA amp stands that they made custom for me.

    Re: D'Agostino Momentum amp stand

I think I will stick with either flat on the Symposium Ultra stand or with Stillpoint Ultra's underneath.

    Re: D'Agostino Momentum amp stand

The shun mooks have been consistently better than stillpoints, SRA and flat. The stillpoints make the highs toppy, dry up the mids, and tighten the bass in an unnatural way. This is across all systems compared in, and there have been many, without exception.

Greg Baron of UHA is a dealer for both, fee free to contact him.

His UHA is based a lot on the mooks http://unitedhomeaudio.com/shun_mook...uha_tape_d.htm

    Re: D'Agostino Momentum amp stand

Ked, Not sure if I can agree with you there.

Stillpoints do not sound the same under every component in my experience. Sometimes they are great, sometimes they plain don't work.

The Stillpoint Ultra's worked great under my conrad johnson GAT, the 5's even better - certainly not toppier. They will never leave from under the GAT.
The Ultra's were crap with my tube monoblocks, pretty good with the Wilson speakers even thou I have gone back to the wilson spikes, not so great with my tube phono stage - aurios sound better under them.
With the DÁgostino amp - not sure as yet, as the highs actually seem to be slightly smoother - certainly not toppier. Bass did not really change.

I agree re SRA - I have one of their $1000 turntable platforms that sits collecting dust in a corner. My $80 set of compression springs does a better job of isolating and providing better sound in my system.

I also have a set of Shun Mook Mpingo discs sitting in a draw - want to buy them?

The only way I would try a set of of anything Shun Mook is to have the dealer send them free to try out.

The proof in the worth of any audio component or tweak - does it last long term?
short term excitement or change easily tires - you need to live with something before you can say whether or not its worthwhile to you.

    Re: D'Agostino Momentum amp stand

Hi Shane, I have had mooks for 3 years, stillpoints before which were tiring, and you will find this in many systems who own mooks. Regarding the mpingo discs, they are minor tweaks, sometimes work and sometimes not. The resonators are very different. The Mook resonators, not letting go, I have 4 sets (each set is of 3). I had 4 of stillpoints, sold off when compared to Mooks. I carried them around to many local audiophiles visited.

I am referring to them under components, not speakers.
