Mandatory TT Accessory: Isolation Base
I've been having issues with my VPI Prime since I purchased it over a year ago. I got mechanical feedback no matter what I tried doing to alleviate the problem. It was sitting on a 3" maple slab which in turn was supported by isolation footers, all on top of a Timbernation maple rack on a hardwood floor. When I walked near the turntable I’d get loud thumping sounds coming through the speakers. So today I borrowed an HRS S1 isolation base from a local retailer and geez, what a difference! No more feedback no matter how hard I stomped on the floor. Music no longer sounds like mush, the highs sparkle and the bass is rock solid. Needless to say, I will not be returning the base.
Main System: Krell MD-2 CD turntable, Aurender N100H, Bryston BDA-3, VPI Prime, Allnic 1201, D'Agostino Momentum Preamp and Stereo Amp, Wilson Sasha 2, JL CR-1, JL F110 (2), Klaudio RCM.
Headphone System: Woo WA22, Woo WA8, Audeze LCD-3, Sennheiser HD800S, Enigma Dharma D1000, Focal Elear, A&K AK320, JH Audio JH16, Noble K10.
Bedroom System: Krell S-1000, Krell KST-100, ProAc Signature 50, Oppo BDP-93, Squeezebox Transporter.
Museum: Son of Ampzilla, Usher BE-718, Infinity Black Widow, Hafler DH-101, Theta DS Pro Basic, Micro Seiki BL51 w/Eminent Technology II tonearm.

My solution to the same problem, a Minus K isolation base. It did wonders...

I upgraded the power supply on my Gigafoil v4 to a Weiss PSU 102. It’s very nice step up. But with the new model, you’re looking at $2000 before even investing in a SOTA linear power supply.
