Wyred 4 Sound/SST + PureAudioProject at RMAF
Hey all -- who's going to RMAF next week? We're excited to be in room 1118 partnering with PureAudioProject. Some of the gear we will be demonstrating:
- New PS-1 modular linear power supply - shipping soon
- Recovery USB reclocker
- SST Thoebe II preamplifier w/DAC and phonostage
- New SX-1000R amplifiers (x 4)
- PureAudioProject Stellar12 open-baffle speakers
The new PS-1 modular linear power supply is something we've hinted at on social media recently and we're pleased to debut it at RMAF. This will be a killer product that should please anyone looking to upgrade to a linear power supply for their Recovery, Remedy, bLINK, etc. Of course, it will work with non-Wyred products as well. The "but wait, there's more" moment with the PS-1 is that it's a modular, 4 zone linear power supply. Each zone can be populated with an independent power module, allowing up to 4 different devices to be powered at once, each with its own unique voltage! Look for more details and pictures soon on our website, social media and upcoming newsletter. We're super excited about this product. Shipping expected sometime around November, if not before. Pricing TBD (but very competitive!).
The new SX-1000R amplifiers have been shipping for a couple weeks now, and have been very popular. These are fantastic sounding amplifiers, with power and finesse in spades. Don't forget, if you currently own SX-1000s, we have a generous trade-in program to upgrade to new SX-1000Rs. See the SX-1000R webpage for details.
The SST Thoebe II preamplifier is such an amazing preamp that we had to use it. With a built-in DAC and phono, it always sounds incredibly transparent and spooky real.
The PureAudioProject Stellar12 is their flagship speaker. Constructed of all-aluminum frames and custom drivers, this $25k open-baffle tour-de-force sounds so realistic and full-range it easily bests their 'boxy' brethren. We'll be bi-amping these bad boys with our SX-Rs. Based on past partnerships with PAP, they love the sound of our equipment with their speakers. This setup will no doubt sound spectacular.
EJ and I will be in the room but also checking out the rest of the show. Hope to see you guys there!
Tony

As for the PS1, at 12v, how many amps can it reliably supply?

Re: Wyred 4 Sound/SST + PureAudioProject at RMAF
My sincere apologies for this laaaaaaaaaaaaaaate reply, @Face! With a regular power module, the current is limited to ~1.2A, regardless of voltage (5v-15v). We're almost done with developing a higher current module which we believe will accommodate closer to 3A. That will be available on our website when it's ready.

Yes...it makes for a BIG improvement. Every demo I've heard where at Altaira was in the system, folks listened, and then the Altaira(s) were removed, and folks immediately demanded the Altaira be put...
