Are there any 5000 models in the field yet in order to compare to the 7000? Thoughts?

I haven't been able to try one - yet. But the problems with the 7000 when plugging in a lot of tube gear are supposedly corrected in the 5000. When I use my 7000 with all SS gear, except for maybe a tube DAC, it's as quiet as a church mouse. But when I plugged in my tube amps, tube preamp, tube DAC, tube phonostage, tube tape preamp, etc. it had a very slight buzz/hum (noticeable if you put your head right next to the 7000). This problem is supposedly corrected in the 5000.

Thanks for the info! If the hum issue is set aside, I am wondering how much sonic benefit the added Dielectric-Biased AC Isolation Transformers would have in the 7000 vs. 5000. I know it would be hard to quantify but hopefully someone will have them side by side in the near future.

I had the 1000 FWIW. The 7000 is a giant step up. If you have little to no tube gear, than the 7000 is well worth it. In the store, I have an all Ayre system on the 7000. It's DEAD quiet and measures 0.00 on my line noise analyzer.

    Hi Mike,

Could you measure the 5000 on your noise analyzer and tell us the result?

    Thanks,
    Ken

    Re: AudioQuest Niagra 5000

I home auditioned the Niagara 5000 with the AQ Tornado PCs (3x). It improved the sound from my system noticeably (around 10-15%). A little more clarity, precision and deeper sound stage. I am very happy with it. I didn’t end up auditioning the Gigawatt or PurePower+ as I had Mike’s recommendation, not a lot of time, and a great package price.

Am toying now with ethernet cables. I bought 3x AQ Cinnamon (1 from wall to router, 1 from router to NAS, and 1 from NAS to Lumin T1) but on Wednesday I am home auditioning 3x AQ Vodkas. Am looking forward to that show down.
