Question for STP-SE preamp owners re: volume ....
Out of curiosity, what number is your volume set to for your listening sessions?
When Volume is ≤ 63, it's passive, when volume is ≥ 64, it's active. Have you reached the active stage and have you noticed a difference in the sound?Fleetwood Deville by Oswald Mills Audio, Vienna Acoustics Haydn Jubilee, Wharfedale Linton w/ stands, Klipsch RB-75, Klipsch RP-160M.

I have had the the STP for just short of 3 years and tried it with close to 10 different amps and don't think I have ever broken 40 even at ear shattering levels. The amps ranged in input sensitivity from .75 v for the Job to 1.5 for the Belles. I think I'm around 18-30 and that's loud enough for me.

+1 Mid 20's is pushing it with the Nola's.

I have both my DAC and the output on the Marantz set yo -20db to give me more range on the pre-amplifier volume control. Even with this I have never gotten above 35-45. At that range it is really loud to me.

I believe I made it to 55 with a pair of very inefficient speakers. Otherwise, I'm usually at 10-30.
