Any experience with the Constellation Inspiration series?

    Hi,

Just out of interest, any Constellation Inspiration Pre and Stereo 1.0 users out there or with listening experiences of the combo?

    Would appreciate your thoughts.

    Regards,

Heard the higher end stuff sound great on S5s once at Newport. Asiufy has quite a bit of experience with them vs Dart on Magico so maybe he will chime in.

Re: Any experience with the Constellation Inspiration series?

Hi.I had Reference AR 150. When released the upgrade to 150 SE, for a price of 5,500 €, I found it too expensive for parts that were changed. If we add the cost of re-tubed every two years and the great reviews that the series was taking inspiration by all reviewers that assessed, I decided it was time to give a chance to this amplifier.
I went to Imacustica, where I could make a comparative listening between Ref 150 SE
and the Inspiration 1.0 Estereo. It was not an easy decision because AR is good, very good, but finally I decided on the Constellation.
A few weeks later I had the opportunity to hear the new D'Agostino Classic Stereo, which is a beast, but the delicacy of sound was gone, it's as if the Contellation was not the classical solid state amplifier and D'Agostino yes it out .
I think the Constellation is a magnificent amplifier itself, but if we relate price is spectacular.

I agree, don't really care for any of the D'Agostino stuff, simply old fashion sound, IMO. Many current SS are much better, and the Constellation is one of them.

They got a glowing review in the HiFi Critic (the ad free mag from the UK).

Heard the combo briefly at a dealer with Kharma speakers. From that brief listen, I was very impressed. I highly eecommend an audition.
