    Beer!

Title says it all. Who else here loves beer? What are your favorites? I'll start with my top ten:

IPA's : Aprihop by Dogfish, Ruination by Stone, RPM by Boneyard and Interurban by Freemont
Stouts: Sam Smith Oatmeal Stout, Porter by Scuttlebutt, Dark Star Imperial Oatmeal Stout by Freemont (my favorite of all things beer )

Ales: Tripel Belgian Ale by Scuttlebutt

Others: Ayinger Brau-Weisse and Franziskaner Hefe-Weisse

Honorable mention: Piney the Elder by Russian River, Creme Brulee (Imperial Milk Stout) by Southern Tier, Mint Chocolate Imperial Stout by Stone, Pilsner Urquell

Those are my favorites but there are MANY other beers that I could drink on a day to day basis.

    Re: Beer!

For the most part, beer is beer.

They are all different, some more than others.

Depending on my mood, I like Duvel, Chimay and Stella Artois Heinekin and Yuengling.

edit: I forgot to mention Grolsch because I haven't had it in a while.

    Re: Beer!

Beer nut here. Hard to list favs but at the moment I am finishing up several selections including a recent fav, Heady Topper by the Alchemist, which was recently Beer Advocate's #1 beer. Others listed are also on my list like Southern Tier, Rogue, Widmer, St Bernardus, Unibroue, Long Trail, Lagunitas, Green Flash, Allagash, Ommegang, Magic Hat....so many more.

Picking up my mixed case of Spring Beers later tonight from a yearly trade, my selection was Elder Betty by Magic Hat.

    Re: Beer!

Hey Matt, there's a nice little brewery up here in MI called Founders. I believe that they just started shipping to TX a month or so ago. They have a nice line up that's worth checking out. Try Centennial Ale or Red's Rye for starters. They have one heck of a Stout as well...

I don't drink anymore, but when I did my favorite was Grolsch. Two 16 ounce snap cap bottles was enough to give me quite a buzz

Thats funny, and Stella is the Belgian Bud. Another funny one is Fosters Lager from Australia, where they don't even drink it because it is really just for export.

Funny you mention beer! I watch a friends dogs once a month and she works for a liquor company . She always tells me to take the beer. So I get sample bottles
1 or 2 of each. Lets me taste alot of different kinds.
    This month is
Samuel smith - organic chocolate stout and organic pale ale and winter welcome ale
    Red seal ale
    Acme pale ale
    Ayinger brauweisse
    Anderson valley heelch o'hops
Haven't tried any of em yet. Most I usually hate but every so often there's a winner .

Oh my, Molson beer!!! From 1989 to 1991 I was in grad school at Ohio State and while there, I fell in love with a Molson beer called Brador.....to this day, I still love that beer though sadly I have not had /seen it since I left Columbus.

I do love Duvel,Chimay and Stella Artois, but, I also love Negro Modelo and the dark Shiner. Sadly, I have not kept my beer drinking skills up but that will be changing soon...

    Cheers,

    Re: Beer!

Heady Topper is an excellent beer, but anyone coming to northern Vermont should also look for Hill Farmstead Edward on tap. Shaun Hill may be our best brewer. Lawson's Finest Ales are also very good, as are many beers from Lost Nation in Morrisville and Trapp's in Stowe.

Sadly, these beers don't ship so you'll have to come visit to try them. Or invite me over and I'll bring a few along. Mike came very close to a Heady Topper last spring.

If you're able to come in September for the autumn color, you also have this to look forward to:

A coworker went to that beerfest and thoroughly enjoyed it. She was able to bring me a 4pack of Heady Topper. But then my friends were at their condo in Stowe and they brought me home a full case. Her brother is a brewer and also friends with a guy who brewed at Majic Hat, then Alchemist, and now is at one of the othe fine breweries you mentioned. The Lawsons Wry PA is good and all the Farmsteads are as well.

I agree with Michael on Rogue Dead guy, an excellent beer, and I had to buy it in South Carolina. I'll look for the Double next time. Peeper (Maine Brewing) is another excellent pale ale, as is Smuttynose Finest Kind (NH). We're so lucky today with all of these small breweries.

Founder's Centennial... Oh yeah!!! We have so many good breweries here in Michigan it isn't funny. I'm enjoying a nice Red Ale right now by another local brewery called Brewery Vivant. They make a beer called "Big Red Coq" that is my new fav.

I don't really drink that much anymore, but back in the day...that's another story.

Every now and then, I have been know to enjoy a Guinness, Molson Golden, or a Budweiser...usually in that order of preference. Of course, being from Columbus, OH, I grew up on Bud.

    Re: Beer!

Wile in Savannah a few weeks ago, I was introduced to a new favorite that I can't get here. I was able to find and bring a case home.

    Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale

It's like sipping a real smooth buttery vanilla whiskey with a little carbonation.

I am unsure what is happening with Heady Topper distribution, but the owner drove 50 cases to Philly the other day and made the rounds to 5 bars in the city to serve up the 16oz cans at the bar only. There is also a rumor that they will start supplying a limited number of cases to the Philly area sometime soon. We shall see.

    Re: Beer!

Last week while in Jersey on vacation, we headed out to Belmar to a Smoothie Shop called "Stay Gold" (Ponyboy). I wasn't sure of the address so I punched in 8th & Main knowing it was on Main somewhere. As I turned onto 8th 2 blocks from Main, I saw the sign. I say to my wife, "Look Up....there it is". She replies BEER. I say, no look up at the Stay Gold sign, she says BEER. Apparently I was parking right next to a new Brew Pub called "Beach Haus Brewery" that has only been open less than a year. We sampled 2 flights and followed it up with a pint of the below, which I bought a few 4-packs. Its a nice tasty 2X IPA at 8.7%.

    Re: Beer!

I also just started knocking off the Foundation "Prototype" I brought back from Maine. Their best seller that you stand in line for like Heady and Sip of Sunshine is called Epiphany but there was none to be had. Every couple weeks they do a Prototype batch for fun or to see if it catches on. It was suggested that this one was as close to Epiphany as it gets so we bought a 4-pack. Keep in mind, this is May 4th, the day after our 30th anniversary.

So on the can, they really don't tell you what the beer is, but on the bottom they stamp the style and date it was canned. This beer was canned on May 3rd 2016, our 30th Anniversary day. I would say it falls right in between Heady Topper and Sip and is also an 8% in 16oz cans.

    Re: Beer!

Boy do I miss my beer/Ale. Found out 4 months ago that I have a moderate wheat allergy, a rash and the tightening of the throat if I go overboard. This getting old crap sucks, no flour no good tasting bread etc... . And I still have a unfinished case of Chimay Blue just setting begging for me to drink it.

Chris, I would be more than happy to help you end this dilemma, but sorry to hear of the condition.

That is one good beer, have you had any of the cheese?

You know I have seen it noted on a few sites, but in my little town its not stocked. At a risk I would love to try the pairing
