Thanks Mike, another for me would be my Stillpoints record clamp. It will end up a paper weight for me if I stop using it, a piece of my past nostalgia collection, including a few other items.

RE: Surface noise. My theory is this: from a psychoacoustic perspective, the brain works harder filling in the "blanks" or "missing pieces" attributed to a digital square wave vs filtering out surface noise from a record.

Therefore, a listener is more relaxed listening to vinyl or R2R than digital.

I tend to agree but do find it annoying when there are vinyl product inconsistencies. Even worse, a poor pressing when others such as Chad can press perfection.

Recently I made a "tribute" purchase. Two LPs had pressing defects. Given that they subsequently sold out due to overwhelming demand, I got a refund and was allowed to keep the product too! That was a first and I was really happy about the acknowledgement and goodwill gesture as the vinyl is OK, just imperfect.

You're right on that Steve. I've had my fair share of bad pressings too.
