Yes, I have some little green machines
No posts in Shindoland as yet? I feel like a pioneer of sorts.
I confess to owning Shindo and am glad I had the opportunity to get into the land of green thanks to the wisdom of my friendly and helpful Shindo dealer, Don Better, located in Cleveland.
I made the switch from mostly McIntosh about two years ago starting with a Shindo Aurieges preamp, then a Montille amp (6V6 version), and then popped for a Monbrison preamp....YUMMY!
The electronics are pushing a revamped (ALK x-overs) pair of Klipsch LaScalas (1977) from a former beer hall. The Shindo equipment makes the LaScalas sing like never before.
Technics DD turntables (SL1210, SP15, SP25) with Technics, Audio Technica tonearms, and one of Tonearm Audio's 12" cherry arms mounted on a Tonearm Audio cherry plinth spin the 'holy objects' which are read by a Denon DL 103, a Denon DL 103R, and an Ortofon SPU Classic N E.
I still have a couple of pieces of McGear...an MC225 and an MC250; both sounding great after 50 + years and matching well with the Monbrison when I switch gear around.
Anyone on the forum joining me in green??

Re: Yes, I have some little green machines
Joeinid, your Cornwalls are a match made in heaven for Shindo electronics. The Montille amp is 15 watts per channel but sounds like a thousand watts through the LaScalas....and the music is sublime!

Re: Yes, I have some little green machines
Beavis - congrats. I have heard Shindo and I know the particular magic they make. Extremely impressive, and what I admire most above all is the artful balance they achieve in their 'voice'. Yes, there is warmth...but so too is there real detail (an incredibly low noise floor...aren't they 119db signal to noise??), and so the midrange beauty literally floats out of nowhere...very very cool. I can see why people get into Shindo and never feel the need to leave, or just move up the Shindo lineage. Congrats...that is magic stuff. I went my own way and found my own magic. But I admire and remember the Shindo magic well.

Re: Yes, I have some little green machines
Beavis,
We might have very similar ears because I own Shindo too ( Giscours / Corton Charlemagne Q ) and I also have a MC225, DL103.... But no Scala here....
Just a pair of Heresy III which did not pair well with my Apetite but singed wonderfully with the CCQ.
Shindo makes truly magic gear but the 225 is not so far from it. Very very similar.
I wish that McIntosh could produce today what they made in the 60's and 70's. The gear was much more musical. I like modern Mcs a lot. But I'm completely in LOVE with my vintage Mcs.... Expecting Petite Latour
I've had the Giscours, Cortese, and Lafite for a couple of years. The Petite Latour (FC) are ordered and I hope to have them in about 3 weeks. I love the Lafite but I just had an urge to upgrade for some unknown reason.
As to the thread, hopefully the PL's are not green!Bill

Re: Yes, I have some little green machines
Dale...have you tried/demoed any of John Devore's other speakers with the green boxes?
Suoer 8s, 88s, Super 9s, Silverbacks, 3XLs?
I like John's more traditional narrow baffle speakers a bit more than the O96s and O93 (more so in terms of form factor than sonics necessarily), although I do find the Gibbons and Silverback present a wider and deeper stage and more crisp images on that stage vs. the Orangutans which are more about tone and texture (they certainly sound beautiful). Just curious if the Orangutans are your first foray into DeVore speakers and if not how the Gibbons or Silverback mated with Shindo.
I am particularly keeping an eye out on his new upcoming Gibbon X speaker (as you may recall, I had started that thread on the Xs on that other forum which caused that hoopla when DeVore's responses were edited). Just curious.
ThanksCyril

Re: Yes, I have some little green machines
That's right you did start that thread. So you are the reason I received an "infraction", and Cucumber Jones was banned.HaHa
I'm glad it happened because otherwise I wouldn't have ended up here.
I have a pair of Devore Super 8's in my second system that I have owned for about 6 yrs. They are a permanent fixture in my family room along with a Leben CS300XS. They suite the smallish room perfectly, not imposing but a perfect match. I have taken them upstairs to my main system to try with the Shindo gear and although they match up with the Shindo wonderfully, they are just too small for that room. The Super 8's are a beautifully simple speaker appearance wise. Being a professional woodworker, I truly can appreciate his cabinetry work.DALE

Re: Yes, I have some little green machines
The narrow baffle speakers aren't as efficient as wider baffle ones. The baffle helps efficiency which I think is important.
