    Thoughts on Turntables and Vibration

I once had my TT suspended from a wall but never played it that loud since I was living in an apartment.
I also once had my TT in another room separate from the speakers and I played my LPs very...

Re: MQA: That Sounds Good. To Me.

Expectation bias is likely at play here.

Some folks buy into MQA. They subjectively listen and believe to hear or perceive amazing sound.

Likewise some folks see the objective test results that...

MQA: That Sounds Good. To Me.

Here we have visible, objective proof that MQA has been trying to fool everyone. Yet I bet that some folks will still continue to ďtrustĒ their ears instead of science. Like someone said earlier, it...

I donít have vibration issues such as vibration due to footsteps. Again, I only experienced the vibration when I played the music very very loud. I very rarely listen to music at that volume and when...

    Thoughts on Turntables and Vibration

No bass traps. Two Subs have been properly positioned in the room to avoid any bass issues.
However, in an enclosed room, if I am playing rock music very loud, I will definitely feel the bass (two...

The turntable is located adjacent to a side wall. About 14 feet from the front wall. The nearest speaker is 8í away; the other speaker is 14 feet away. The room is very large (18 feet wide by ~25...

Simply because it makes listening to an LP at that level impossible. Thatís why. I wanted to play the LP but ended up switching to digital with no vibration issues. Make it another point for digital.

Of course not. Neither do I.
  11. Re: So is anyone still using Audirvana for their music?

I know some folks who are still using It. Some of them do it for perceived SQ and others for cost (they find Roon to be too expensive).
They agree that Roon offers a much better music management...

Re: Thoughts on Turntables and Vibration

Is there such a thing? Is that something that is practical or is it something similar to a safe (meaning impractical)?

The more I think about it, anyone who has their turntable in the same room...

Iím with you about listening to more music than ever AND discovering new music all the time without physically buying CDs. Not owning another CD does not bother me at all! [emoji106]

    Thoughts on Turntables and Vibration

Have you guys tried to play very loud music (say rock at 100-105db) when your turntable is in the same room as your speakers?

At normal listening levels I do not hear or notice any induced...

  16. Just Found A Bunch of CDs... What an Odd Feeling

Cleaning up around the house, found a box full of CDs. It felt so ancient (it did not help that there were VHS tapes in the same box).

I had digitized those VHS tapes years ago so I will just...

Not sure who makes disc players that also are Roon-ready these days. Many manufacturers stopped making players since folks have moved to streaming videos. My recommendation would also be the Oppo 203...

    Re: HDMI Cables

In order to get 4K, you need to have make sure that all cables in the chain can pass 4K.
Many older cables (but not all) can pass 4K. But if you want to be certain, you can buy newer HDMI cables...

The biggest house in the world?

It is a house AND it is a skyscraper. In the USA or Canada you see one or the other. So maybe that skews your point of reference.

Using your analogy on Buckingham Palace and the White House, then...

    No Network Connection

Typically, there is a Preamp between the DAC and the amps to control the volume and give you more flexibility.

    The flow typically looks like:
    Streamer-> DAC-> Preamp -> Amp

    However some DACs...

    Re: No Network Connection

Your Marantz has optical/coaxial digital input. So a Raspberry Pi (RPi) with a HAT (like HiFi Berry Digi Pro +) will do the work for you.
However, given that you are not familiar with RPi, my guess...

    Re: No Network Connection

You donít need to buy a separate DAC. If you feed a digital signal to the Marantz from any streamer, the internal DAC will do its work.

Several HATs come with galvanic separation if someone cares about that (I donít). And if one thinks it makes a difference (I donít), you can buy all kinds of PS for the RPI.
