Re: Help me find a new SS amp

Yes, amps are my hobby and I really try several in my system before making a decision. I've found they are quite different system to system vs other components (front end).

Re: Help me find a new SS amp

thanks everyone for the ideas. i've decided to keep it simple and try the Dart 108, new Bakoon 23r or 43r (when released this fall), and the LTA Ultralinear+. In the end I'm feeling a simple amp to...

    Re: Jeff Rowland 625 II

this is a great amp - has more of a midrange presence than typical SS. i wouldn't say its tube like, but just sounds good. particularly if you are into jazz, vocals, etc.

Re: Help me find a new SS amp

Well, a friend is bringing over a 108 soon. I replaced the Valvet with a CTH and have very fond memories. Just wasnít a good match in the bass with Devore. Fyne maybe different.

Re: Help me find a new SS amp

I've had so much tube gear go boom on me - and i have considered a ZOTL40 of course to match my preamp. It only weighs 15lbs which is a positive but just not sure I want the hassle anymore.

budget is ~$15k, sorry for not being explicit. I tried the other amps as they are simple circuits without a lot of power.

Help me find a new SS amp

Hey guys, have a pair of Fyne F1-12s which are 96db/8ohm speakers (though probably measure a few dbs less if the F1-10 measurements online are correct).

I'm looking for a 50-100w SS amp. Have...

    Re: Criticizing a friend's system

I loved my MC601s, sometimes miss such a simple all Mac setup.

What's interesting is I found the 601s so physically large, never even considered the 1.2ks

Re: RMAF is Cancelled Forever - so sad

bummer. and SoCal stupidly split into two shows next year due to politics so no real western region show. not good. its Axpona and everything else.

    Re: Jay's Audio Journey

they really are quite diminutive for SS monoblocks as large heat sinks are built into the chassis. around 50lbs/each.

    Re: Jay's Audio Journey

Well, I preferred the Ampzilla 2000 ($5500/pair new for a long time) to the following on my YG Haileys:

    Luxman m900
    Nagra Classic
    Pass X350.8
    BHK 300s
    Rowland 625s2

    I also prefer the Dart...

as a.wayne said, load requirements mean everything for amps. the problem is all the new Wilsons, Magicos, YGs of the world have huge amp requirements = $$$$.

    Re: Jay's Audio Journey
