  1. Re: MOFI One Step’s - is it tape or digital? The big debate

Doug Sax stated long ago in a Stereophile interview that he could cut better sounding lacquers from a 24/192 PCM file than straight from the analog tape. That is only one engineer's opinion, though.

    Re: audiophile angst

Too bad the article started with discussing T Bone Burnette, whose producing (or mastering) has ruined or at least worsened the sound of many albums, including the two mentioned.

Re: HiFi Rose RS150 Network Streamer Review

    I don't find a player or streamer without a built-in DAC?

On a separate but related note, do you carry the RS201E? Either way, do you know the current price of this unit?

Are you using the DAC in the 150b or USB out to the DS Jr.?

Re: HiFi Rose RS150 Network Streamer Review

Pretty sure the "base" rate is 256k AAC, with "upgrades" up to 24/192 (although I don't know how many albums are available at 24/192). I don't subscribe so I may have some details wrong (I get...

    Re: Done with digital

Perhaps, although the measured non-linearity argues against that. OTOH, the rolled off HF response and relatively high measured noise may mask some ringing (if it does occur).

As I said, new dipoles are aimed at the high-end market, so even though there may be many new models, sales volume will remain small ;)

I’m quite willing to believe you over Amir, who has had an issue with inflating his importance in the audio world (maybe still does).

From Amir's posts at WBF. I should have put "rotating turntable" in quotes; that was indeed only a metaphor for the layout at Harman's labs, which has been described in detail by Sean Olive, as you...

So why did you originally post that Harman does NOT test in mono (post #17)? Or did you mean they listen in stereo and test in mono (not exactly what you posted, though)? And the unreliable results...
