    Re: Criticizing a friend's system

    Hi AVP,
I'm not an audiophile, so please forgive/take my "remote" analysis, basic logic, reasoning, etc question(s) as such.
Did you double check to make sure the bass/treble/tone controls were...

    Sad
  3. Re: Blind comparisons of speakers, amps, and DACs...

    Projecting as always. :)
Poor Mark, forced to participate in thread subjects he hates. Sorry, "we"...
  4. Re: Blind comparisons of speakers, amps, and DACs...

LOL. Good luck understanding your next cel phone call
  5. Re: Blind comparisons of speakers, amps, and DACs...

IOW, you have zero evidence to support your claim/belief that human (audio) perception is untestable using the defacto standard of science, blind testing. Just endless hand waving and belief. Ok.
  6. Re: Blind comparisons of speakers, amps, and DACs...

The technical info may, or may not influence the (pardon pun) soundfield in your room impinging your ears. That's the "sound" part. There is a definitive way to determine that, aka, a controlled...
  7. Re: Blind comparisons of speakers, amps, and DACs...

Yet your cel phone calls are intelligible. Please provide evidence to support your repeated claims. This thread is about audible human perception.
  8. Re: Blind comparisons of speakers, amps, and DACs...

There is overwhelming evidence, the tip of iceberg presented in this very thread. Some simply reject science for belief, without evidence.
    Quite common today.
  9. Re: Blind comparisons of speakers, amps, and DACs...

Ok, we've got that Red herring out of the way. Now on to the subject of human perceptual testing, violins, orchestra members, audio components, cel phones, etc....

    That's vague, please explain why...
  10. Re: Blind comparisons of speakers, amps, and DACs...

It was clearly a "preference" test, not a Just Noticeable Difference/"Any difference" type test. Hence the simple A/B format, like for example, Harmans speaker "preference" tests. The devices sound...
  11. Re: Blind comparisons of speakers, amps, and DACs...

What non-strawman claimed they were all exactly the same?
What relevance does that have to the efficacy of blinding for human perceptual testing?

    Congrats Joe, enjoy!
  13. Re: Blind comparisons of speakers, amps, and DACs...

Not to the scientifically literate. Since late 1700s.
They are the defacto standard in science, including for the meds you take, the phone you use, the orchestras you may/may not listen to, etc,...

Re: New photos of Randy's system ...

Maggies can work surprisingly well in small rooms...acoustically. Visually tho..
Maybe give them a try before ditching. Of course its whatever you prefer. Those should sound quite different

Re: MQA: That Sounds Good. To Me.

Yeah the lossy MQA track sounded like a Korg, the non-MQA sounded like a Yamaha CS-80.
I've contacted John Edward to channel MJ to see what the artists intent was. Somehow Bob Stuart knows.

An electronic pop song? What improved, the naturalness of the synthesizer?

Re: Hanging out with Joe, Jock and Bruce

The obvious question is, how was the sound system at the hockey game?
  22. Re: How Force Cancelling Driver Technology Eliminates Cabinet Vibrations

Sure. Anyone who comprehends Alans video of ML non attached driver chassis and that nickel not moving, understands that zero relation to force cancelling.
    No belief required. YMMV.
  23. Re: How Force Cancelling Driver Technology Eliminates Cabinet Vibrations

Luckily my clientele know what basic words like "spaced" means :)
  24. Re: How Force Cancelling Driver Technology Eliminates Cabinet Vibrations

No prob and glad you learned what spaced means.
  25. Re: How Force Cancelling Driver Technology Eliminates Cabinet Vibrations

That's ok, audiophiles and basic physics don't mix, no need for agreement.
They all cancel forces/cabinet vibrations, the proof is in the (nickel) pudding...whether cognizant or not. Couldn't be...
