Re: Amps that sound great with Avantgarde speakers ?
I haven’t heard the E2se, but have heard good things about it from more than one I would even fathom a guess that as a single-ended design and lower, but sufficient power for the AG’s, might be a...

Re: Amps that sound great with Avantgarde speakers ?
Good point, Keith. The Viva and VAC were on my "lust list" after buying Mike's AG Duo Mezzo's. With such efficient speakers I was drawn toward the concept of building around just the watts I...

Re: Amps that sound great with Avantgarde speakers ?
When I received the Duo Mezzo’s, I had the ARC Ref75SE. Not a great combination, so I tried my Valvet A4 mono’s and preferred them considerably. On my prior Zu Definitions Mk 4’s, the ARC was...

Re: Amps that sound great with Avantgarde speakers ?
Yes, he does...they exude quality in every way. The noise level on the Duo Mezzos with linestage gain near 90% is completely absent with ear to the drivers. This is more quiet than any combination...

Re: Amps that sound great with Avantgarde speakers ?
Thomas Mayer 45 drives 45 is outstanding on Duo Mezzo XD’s. It is on another planet compared to all others I have tried and I long for nothing. That last part is revealing for me as a lifelong...

Re: Opinions on this Avantgarde Model
I saw these same speakers. They are in Champaign, IL (Glenn Poor's Audio), along with an ~18 year old pair of Duos. I listened to both (and almost bought the Duos). The setup, unfortunately is far...

Re: Question: MSB Reference DAC - XLR to RCA output.
Mike I'll give you a call today. I was originally thinking that was what I needed, however, the red text below from their adcopy suggests that owners pay more for their external adapters for...

Re: Question: MSB Reference DAC - XLR to RCA output.
Thanks Neko. To the bold text above, MSB actually recommend those XLR to RCA adapter for the Ref and Select DACS as the most pure conversion (see quoted text below)
Based on the limited... -

Re: Question: MSB Reference DAC - XLR to RCA output.
The 200iQ is definitely on my radar; however, I do need to be able to convert to RCA to evaluate the low powered SET options regardless. With a speaker like this, I need to have relatively high...

Question: MSB Reference DAC - XLR to RCA output.
I've been enjoying the Reference DAC I purchased from Mike for close to 8 months. I couldn't be happier with it!
I have, however, jumped at a chance to purchase a pair of used Avantgarde Duo... -

Re: Avantgarde Duo XD and 300B tubes = awesome!
Hey Joe,
Do you find the thicker, tonally denser Luxman 300B is slower than your Misho? What are the downsides?
On a hopefully not too tangential topic...did you compare the Duo XD and Duo XD... -

Any feedback on how these RK150’s sound? Seems awfully quiet considering it is the lone competition for Tung-Sol.

Re: Q: Can anyone speak to the differences between LampizatOr GG and MSB Premier?
The PS Audio Premier is a power re-generating amplifier (i.e. turns AC to DC, then rebuilds the AC waveform). Power filter is a passive power filtering device, also by PS Audio, but not sure the...

Please..."lacked a certain logic"? What does that even mean? Read my response just above for the "logic" in play. If you still find it lacking...well then, ask a specific question.

Re: Q: Can anyone speak to the differences between LampizatOr GG and MSB Premier?
First, to the bolded part: if you read the thread title, I was interested in comparisons between the GG and the Premier and that is what Mike sent me to compare.
As mentioned by me above, the... -
