  2. Re: Why Should Mastering Recording Engineers Get Top-Billing on Track Titles?

It's the exact opposite reason. It's being done for people who love RVG recordings to let them know a particular song or album was remastered by RVG. Those words would be meaningless to people who...
  3. Re: Why Should Mastering Recording Engineers Get Top-Billing on Track Titles?

In case you don't know, RVG is famous in jazz circles for his recording and mastering of many classic jazz albums. When RVG went back and remastered some of his recordings specifically for digital...

    Re: Signal ground connection question

It might say “signal” ground, but the schematic symbol underneath the ground post in your pictures is a chassis ground symbol.

    Re: Signal ground connection question

How many preamps and power amps have a ground post that isn’t a chassis ground?

  8. Re: Tidal’s New Lossless Tier Says Goodbye to MQA

    Please elaborate.
  9. Re: Tidal’s New Lossless Tier Says Goodbye to MQA

Bolt was referring to classical music. Jazz music from the 1950s and early 1960s on whole were recorded with a quality that eludes lots of modern recordings.
  10. Re: Look out! Chinese rocket will crash this week.

I’m not looking for anything to worry about. You are Mr. Doom & Gloom on AS which is why I was surprised that you didn’t start this thread.

  13. Re: What do you hear different using Balanced XLR Cables?

If all my gear wasn't balanced, I wouldn't be using balanced cables. Pinning your hopes on an unbalanced piece of gear that happens to sport a balanced input or output connector being wired to AES48...
  14. Re: Danny Richie tears apart the Dynaudio Special 40s

You should team up with KingRex as he has lots of experience criticizing the crossovers in speakers he’s purchased and making them “better.” As for ARC not using iron core inductors in their...
  15. Re: What do you hear different using Balanced XLR Cables?

The specs might say you have a pair of balanced XLR connectors, but neither of your pieces of gear have truly balanced circuits.
  16. Re: What do you hear different using Balanced XLR Cables?

What needs to be clear here is whether or not the OP actually has balanced gear or if he just has a pair of XLR inputs/outputs on his gear for convenience. If the circuits aren't truly balanced,...

  18. Re: Mythbusting tidal’s mqa format - how does it measure up?

"Additionally, MQA’s “blue light” authentication system, designed to guarantee to listeners that they’re listening to a identical-to-studio release, is demonstrated to be misleading at best, if not...

Re: MQA: That Sounds Good. To Me.

Audiophiles understand that lossy formats like MP3 aren't up to RB standards and don't pretend to be. MQA was marketed as hi-rez and superior to all other digital formats.

Re: MQA: That Sounds Good. To Me.

So for all the MQA believers, is there really any “A” left in MQA? If so, how did Mark Waldrep’s files end up on Tidal before he authenticated them? I also learned this morning that the major...
