    Re: Whatís your favorite ESL?

I've heard some good set ups with Martin Logan. I like Sanders.

I only heard Quad once, I forget the model. It was at Axpona in the Mobile Fidelity room when they became the..... I think...
  3. Re: Is Rock & Roll Dead, Just no one called the time?

I also consider Elvis Rock, He fits the attitude test and some of those early songs rocked for the day, Jailhouse Rock, Blue Suede Shoes, even Suspicious Minds. He did sort of vere off into some...

    Re: Blunders

You know how they say you should clean even a new album to remove debris? I bought my first expensive 45 rpm LP, I did play it a couple times and it sounded great, nice and quiet, SQ was better than...
  5. Re: Is Rock & Roll Dead, Just no one called the time?

What's the last few albums you've bought? It's Metal or Hard Rock I gravitate to, myself. I do like Prog and keep an eye out for something good. Chon is one of the more recent bands new to me.

  6. Re: Issues with Digital Audio Out from TV and Hegel Rost

Seems like there should be a setting for the digital stream out of the TV inside it's menu. I would have thought PCM to do the trick. Is there a PCM 2-channel? Or, maybe some way to turn off...
  7. Re: Is Rock & Roll Dead, Just no one called the time?

Maybe you aren't familiar enough with Rock to get what I mean.

I wasn't alive then but love 50's R&R, the next decade had R&R, whether Elvis or Stones, the 70's had Rock that carried the vibe like...

  9. Is Rock & Roll Dead, Just no one called the time?

I guess the 70's & 80's were my main influential radio listening days. It seems today we have Pop and Hard Rock/Metal still doing well. "Alternative" which is leaning more Pop.

    But where is the...

    Re: Newbie streamer

I was thinking along the lines of Bart but if the T1 is cheaper then that seems like a good move. Use which DAC sounds best or both for a choice.

    I had a Hegel HD30 DAC and auditioned a 590 for a...

Re: CD transport no dac required

The cheapest decent transport I'm aware of is Cambridge Audio at about $400.00.

Sim is a good suggestion. Bel Canto also has one but not sure of pricing.

Being able to play SACD would be nice.

Re: Volti Rivals - 3 months in

Volti definitely sound great. I always make a point to have a listen at Axpona to them and Sadurni when they are there.
  21. Re: Am I Doing my new MC462 a great disservice?

*> I'm not very familiar with the operation of the Oppo but I believe it has variable outputs, meaning if using them the Oppo has a volume control. If you know how to use this, it may be fun to...

    Re: Speaker cables

True, if no room treatment the improvement can be dramatic.

I use Clarus, Crimson and they are very good, the background is dark, highs are beautiful, overall nicely balanced I'd say. I did find...
  23. Re: Am I Doing my new MC462 a great disservice?

Which DAC are you using, Oppo or internal Marantz? Just curious if you've compared.

I don't know about disservice but a dedicated stereo preamp would be a place to upgrade. If you still do HT...

    Re: MacDaddy ACS10 arrives

I've got the ACS10 with 8x2 TB HD. It defied the laws of diminishing returns. I had a similar product that retailed at $4k I actually wasn't very happy with the sound, the ACS10 was at least twice...
