Re: Cables? What Brand/Model do you use?

that would be a neat trick. no more bills from the power company.

but what actually counts is from that big transformer down the street to your equipment.

the last 6 feet might act as an...

Re: PS Audio Stellar Power Plant 3

Three phase to single phase often has additional problems.
for a permanently installed big isolation transformer, a 240V or 208V primary is a better plan.
much of that 'sign wave distortion' is...

Re: PS Audio Stellar Power Plant 3

Thanks, that turned out to be a bigger challenge then either of us expected.
208 Volts, is this part of a 3 phase power system?

Re: PS Audio Stellar Power Plant 3

Post a schematic of exactly what you are doing.
the word 'ground' has way too many meanings.

in the US/CAN there is a:
EGC system (Equipment Grounding Conductor) aka: Safety Ground
    GEC system...

Re: PS Audio Stellar Power Plant 3

    I hope not.
    That's not permitted anywhere.
    and it's very dangerous.

    Re: AudioQuest Fog Lifters

Well at least it would stop them from vibrating.
With the cable lifters, the cables act just like guitar strings.
And those cable lifters act just like static electricity collectors.
    Static...

    Re: HDTV Antennas

Note that a lot of stations are not broadcasting on their traditional channels. That is to say, that channel 5 news is probably not on channel 5 anymore.

    Re: Blind Comparisons

It's seems that audiophiles are doing sighted comparisons all the time. Why don't they have the problems that you write about?

Yes, if it's not ears only, well it's just wheel spinning.

    Re: Coaxial

The coax that I get from the cable TV provider is very suitable for that purpose!
But don't use it for a DIY audio interconnect.

    Re: Coaxial

Coax cable is used for lots of different purposes in audio/video systems:
    RCA analog audio
    RCA digital audio
    RCA video (several)
    FM antennas
    TV antennas
    Cable TV
    Satellite TV

    Use top shelf industrial/commercial/hospital products.
and make sure that every part has the correct safety rating for your location.

    Re: AudioQuest Fog Lifters

Perfect for the new 'Star Wars' movie, as they are both from the same alternate universe. But in this universe, the only thing the lifters do is waste your money.

    Re: Cable question

Many turntables uses a RCA coax cable about 1 meter/3 feet long. Different coax cables have different total capacitance. This difference might have a small effect on the very high frequency response...
  19. Re: Measuring Power Grid Interference in Practice

Yes that's the question that really matters:
'how does it effect the audio signal path' ?
  20. Re: What has the most audible impact in a digital HI-Fi set up after speakers, amps and DAC?

Everything that 'matters' matters. Everything else just clouds the issue and wastes time, money and forum space.
  21. Re: Measuring Power Grid Interference in Practice

Who would have a 'laboratory cleaned power in laboratory' ?

But if you have big EMI noise at home, you will have the same noise in the output.
Nonsense.Power line noise is a fact of life and your...

Skipping over the obvious program source differences of vinyl, tape and digital.
a] in analog, it would be mis-set stage gains and background noise and interference. All of which are situation...
  23. Re: Measuring Power Grid Interference in Practice

The only measurements that matter are at the audio outputs of your hi-fi components.
Part of a good hi-fi component design is dealing with power line noise. But power line noise is often caused by...
  24. Re: Can I "bottleneck" my system using a superior speaker cables but, lower end interconnects from same brand?

    Re: Electrical Interference Solution

Does anybody see a problem with having a bunch of chokes or caps in line with your power?

Capacitors need to have an 'X' or 'Y' safety rating.

With ferrite chokes, all three conductors need to...
