  5. Re: How would you compare Luxman to Accuphase house sound?

Who cares if the resale of Marantz gear is low. I buy what sounds good to me, not what the resale value is if I decide to sell it in a few years. The KI Ruby integrated is not like their cheaper...
  6. Re: How would you compare Luxman to Accuphase house sound?

A few others to consider are the Marantz Ref. PM-10 and the PM-KI Ruby. I love the tone of the higher end Marantz gear. They do piano so beautifully. I find the midrange and tone of Marantz to be...
  7. Re: How would you compare Luxman to Accuphase house sound?

I got to audition the Luxman 509 with Wilson Sabrina speakers and a Chord Qutest DAC and then compare it to my son's Cary Audio SI-300.2d integrated. We preferred the Cary. The Luxman had a more...

    Re: B&W 801D4 review

Exactly! It drives me nuts when I see people telling people that want to get Magnepans that a 50 wpc amp will sound great with them. It may sound good but Maggie tweeters dip down to 1.9 to 2 ohms....

Re: Those are for sale ... Dali Oberon 9

My son and I heard a few Dali rooms at the last RMAF and we thought they were some of the best sounding rooms at the show. We came away very impressed.

Re: Magnepan Owners? Your favorite amplifier?

It will relieve the amp a little but I like to run my Maggies full range. I like the bass that they put out. I think that you take away part of the Maggie sound by removing bass but that is just my...

Re: Magnepan Owners? Your favorite amplifier?

Those Carver amps put out 400 wpc at 4 ohms and can handle 1 ohm. They should be fine with the 3.7i's. For 20.7's I would go with more power although the amps would be OK with the 20.7's.

I took it as trust your ears and trust your local dealer.

Double blind tests are good, but I do not need one to tell me what piece of equipment sounds better to me.

Re: LPS vs ifi iPower x

You can always sell the power X. I am sure it would sell fast. Power supplies though are going to be system dependent.

Re: LPS vs ifi iPower x

So what about a class A amp like the XA60.8 which is 60 wpc Class A at 8 ohms and doubles its power at 4 ohms. Is it 120 wpc Class A?

As far as the meters are concerned, the meter on my X250 amp...

Re: Help build my list of amps to try

I would consider a pair of Van Alstine DVA 225 monoblocks. They are small and pack a punch. I did a review of them on the AC forum for Frank. There are 2 excellent pro reviews. They only have XLR...

Re: Magnepan Owners? Your favorite amplifier?

Compared to the Pass it was relatively speaking. The PS Audio 700m's also sounded much better as well as several Van Alstine amps that I reviewed and compared to the A21.

Re: Magnepan Owners? Your favorite amplifier?

I run my 1.6's with a Pass X250 amp. I used to use a Parasound A21 which sounded midfi in comparison. Preamp is a tube BAT VK51se.
