Re: Just returned from the S.H.O.W.

other than that, the Wilson Benesch and Spatial rooms had good sound. I'm sure folks will be talking about the bending wave speaker that looks right out of the 50s. To me though, the drivers didn't...

Re: Just returned from the S.H.O.W.

I enjoyed the Alsyvox for 30-45 minutes at THE Show. It doesn't sound quite like a magneplanar and the dealer said its more like the old Apogees but efficient. They were played on Vitus front end. It...

    Re: Standalone DACs under $10k?

I think the Bricasti M3 looks super interesting sub-$10k.

The MSB Discrete is really quite a bit more as you need the renderer and extra power supply. If someone is looking for a used Premier with...

    Re: Jay's Audio Journey

If it’s just another Wilson that will be so boring as he’s owned half a dozen of them. XLF is fairly efficient but not the new stuff that drops down to 2 ohms.

I like Mikes idea and their resale...

    Re: Jay's Audio Journey

    to correct a hot tweeter? don't think so. that's a room/speaker issue.

I still use Ampzillas after trying 5-6 amp brands. they have tone with great control in the bass. not expensive enough for...

    Re: Jay's Audio Journey

Jay, with an 8' ceiling a D'appolito array speaker will probably work best as the design excels in controlling vertical dispersion. Otherwise, you need to treat the ceiling with a combination of...

  11. Re: Linear Tube Audio ZOTL40 Reference amplifier?

Yeah, if the LTA MZ2 wasn't sweet enough I'd go a different direction - Jadis comes to mind. It's like a ray of sunshine type sound. Excellent transformers for bass control. There is a 35 watt...

Good luck on your DB9s from Europe. No idea where my Fynes are from Scotland - hoping they are on a boat and landing soon.

Re: Gryphon Essence Versus Pass Labs X350.8

Hey Jay, don't feel either is the right match. The Essence has the continuousness and flow of good instruments, but doesn't sound dynamic enough. The Pass is a bit warmer but slams the leading edge...

    Re: Pass XA160.8 vs Pass X600.8 ....

I had a poor experience with the 350.8 on my YGs. JRDG 625s2 (and even underpowered Luxman m900) was much better. It also didn't sound as powerful as it was rated. Quite frankly, I was very puzzled...

    Re: Gryphon News

This is very different from Luxman in my opinion. Luxman is a much larger company with a more diverse product line from entry level to high end. Gryphon is small and uber-high end to begin with....

    Re: SimAudio Integrated Amplifiers?

Always wanted an I-5 growing up in this hobby.

Recently heard the 600iv2 on Devore O96 and it was a superb match. I was shocked.
