    Re: MAGICO M9’s

Exactly what I thought when I first saw them. All those big drivers and a wee-little tweeter and single 6" midrange. Then the music started playing... just a big seamless wall of music. If there are...

    Re: MAGICO M9’s

I’ll just say this… if you have an opportunity to hear the M9s, do it. At the showroom even better.

I’d love to go back and spend a relaxed evening listening to my own references. Maybe I can...

Re: Best sound ever in my house

Jerome, I'm told by Giuseppe @ Diesis he has no dealer currently in France.

But you were thinking of a trip to Rome, right? (Just in case this were true, I can arrange for you to meet with...

    Re: MAGICO M9’s

Lets not forget a principle of the market that applies here, “charge what the market will bear.” If Magico can sell all they can make at $750k, then some folks out there feel they are worth the $$....
  5. Re: I just got 40 albums back I gave away in 1986

Very cool Brian, great story. Reminds me to play some in my collection I’ve overlooked for a decade or more. Here’s hoping they bring back good memories, not bad.

    Re: MAGICO M9’s

Well, you have to always consider the costs of R&D, prototypes, failures, starting again, more R&D, customized everything which runs up costs because things are not mass produced but instead done on...

Re: Best sound ever in my house

Yes I look forward to bringing Kondo amps into my mix to play with Diesis Roma. There is a pretty big price delta between “Roma” and “Roma Triode” and I’m told “Roma” leaves only a wee little bit on...

I’m checking with Giuseppe @ Diesis who and where his dealer is in France. Will report back.

Re: Best sound ever in my house

Jerome, now you need Diesis "Roma Triode", made to pair with Kondo, using all Kondo silver wiring and more. I'm sure you can find some to listen to somewhere in Paris :-)

    Re: Mike's system

My dream car would be a Competizione 8C. Followed by a picture of the new 8C (whenever it gets released, 0-60 under 3 seconds)

OK, sorry to derail Mike's thread. But he did bring up Alfa!

    Re: Mike's system

I had an '86 Spider Veloce. Not fast, but tons of fun. That was back in my early 30s, I was single, so a little ragtop sports car was perfect, though living in Seattle I found all the places the damn...

    Re: Mike's system

Damn Mike, putting Alfa Romeo into the mix, ya bastard! I’ve been an Alfa fan for decades, now will have to seek out some Naim gear and have a listen. If Naim does for audio what Alfa does for...

Re: The Bongo Beater Has Arrived

For the fastest way back into hearing hi-fi again, I’d suggest a simple system with an integrated amplifier (possibly containing a DAC, i.e. digital to analog converter) some speakers, and a...

    Re: Jay's Audio Journey

I ran the REF10 with REF160m for a couple years with my Alexias. I thought the pairing was very good, but 1) Alexia not what Alex or Alexandria are, and 2) Wilson speakers are not shy about power,...
  18. Re: Starting Point - Bob's new room and Alexia's new home

At last, my Pilium Achilles stereo amp is nearly complete. Here's a little photo of it getting stress tested before shipping. How 'bout those tiny little custom capacitors!

    Should be en-route by...

  22. Re: Luxman L-595A Special Edition finally arrives !!!

Man I love the aesthetics of that unit. The push buttons bring back memories of old Plymouth cars, and old car radios. No doubt it sounds just a wee-bit better :P
  23. Re: Starting Point - Bob's new room and Alexia's new home

Its a wonderful space, but sadly I’m totally down awaiting all the new gear to come in. Speakers via ocean freight from Spain, from Italy, and from Denmark. Electronics (Pilium) will ship via air...

  25. Re: Starting Point - Bob's new room and Alexia's new home

Back when I first heard the Diesis, I was visualizing them in my room. Interestingly, they are about the same height as my Alexias, they weigh about the same, but they're a bit wider. (The Alsyvox...
